Default HID Question's

i have been searching the internet for about an hour now looking at HID conversions and i have a couple of questions. First, whats a ballast and an ignitor? Second, what is the difference between a H1 H3 and H4? Lastly, would it cost that much to equip a 93 dx with HID from wrecked cars(Acura TL, BMW, etc.)?

Here is a good link to learn about the things on HID that you're asking about. http://www.bajadesigns.com/p25b.html You might want to do a search on google next time! Good luck.

make sure you match the focal point..my friend had some TL HID's installed on his 99 accord, and the guy just kinda threw them in and made a bracket so they wouldnt move. he didnt correct the beam pattern, so all his light was in the trees.. so he had that "cool HID look" but no light on the ground ..

yeah, get a real conversion kit w/ D2R (reflector) capsules made specifically to replace your H4 headlights. The ignitor fires the arc inside the capsule, and I believe the ballast steps up the voltage and regulates it. It's very similar in operation to flourescent lamps.

yeah.. the ballast basically acts like an amplifier, 12v to 25,000v ...
