Some of the vendors selling HID kits put pics of cars with different kits. Check out that section. It should help.

4300K in an HID projector retrofit! The ONLY good way of converting to HID.

Low beams:

Bi-xenon high beams + stock halogen high beams:

6000K is about 35-40% dimmer than 4300K.

4300K is what OEMs use. It looks great. I have a plug and play kit from the $130 shipped overnight guys on Honda tech. They work awesome. The projectors mean that the light still stays pretty focused. You dont HAVE to have a retrofit. My GSR's plug n play kit has a pretty nice cut off and there's plenty of light on the road. It also looks 95% the same as my S2000 HIDs (if you're looking at the car from the outside...the S2000 has much better light output and focus).

4300K FTW. If you go above that, you're losing light output and sometimes focus.

My old 4300K kit:

next to my buddy's S2000:

HUGE difference in light output, beam pattern, beam width, sharpness, etc.

Integra projectors put most of the light 20-30 ft in front of the car, where it's pretty much useless, and the beam pattern is pretty narrow.

moral: PnP kits are junk compared to an HID projector retrofit.

Patrick is right....HID retrofit is the way to go.....

(just wish I had the time to do it....) As of right now, I have the philips 4300k aftermarket HID kit on my dc2.

There is a slight glare, but its not bad on my car. I've seen other aftermarket kits where the light pattern is everywhere...i'd avoid that

i have 8000k on my gsr now and they work good with stock projectors. I just dont have the money at the moment to do a retrofit because of the current H2B build

but does anyone else has 8000k's?

Here's my civic with a 6000k kit. Paid $160. Not bad...looks good.

Don't know how your PD is in Diego, but here they find everything to give you a ticket for, and HID's are illegal, so they look for it. That's why I stayed at 6000K, 'cuz 8000K starts getting a little too blue.

Dude, maybe you got a crappy kit? The kit for my GSR looks nothing like that. The light output on my GSR reaches just as far as my S2000. It doesn't blind anyone (I've had friends drive in front of me, and i've had friends drive my car while I drive in front of it). If it blinded anyone, I would have taken it off and tried to return it. I hate being blinded by ricers....so I wont do it to other people.

The beam pattern on my kit is also pretty decent. It's not as sharp as the S2000, but light from mine hits the ground a lot nicer than yours. Although, it looks like you're on an incline. Put it on flat ground and take a pic. Or maybe i'll get off my lazy *** and take a pic of both cars.

hahah I haven't had that old kit in like 4 years. HID retrofit only for me now.

They were OEM D2S Philips 4300K bulbs rebased to fit 9006, and yes the capsule was aligned perfectly to match the filament position of 9006 halogen bulbs.

How about show some pics of your beam pattern, because I think it's HIGHLY unlikely that the beam pattern is anywhere near that of an S2000. The projector optics just aren't the same.

Like i said. The beam pattern of the S2000 is much nicer. I mean to say that the color and "glare factor" of my GSR and my S2000 are about the same.

The GSR's beam pattern is very nice with the PNP kit I have. It's better than OEM, even. The light is more laid out, if you will.

The GSR beam pattern is nice.

The S2000 beam pattern is much nicer.

The GSR puts out better light in a better spread than stock.

The S2000 puts out much more light and a way better spread than the GSR's PNP kit.

I have to drive to a dark lot with both cars for you guys? pshh. lol. I'll see if i can. I'm a busy dude.

when i get a chance ill get my buddies 12k gsr with my 12k em2. the projecters help with the color, and if y ou retro, itll give you a more intense look.. IE a maxima or TL.. those are some bright hids.. but the maxima has the best oem!

12k? You probably have less light output than stock. You have to aim those so high that you blind people (in the EM1).

The maxima is just like all other OEM HIDs 4300k.

The Maxima uses a Hella bi-xenon projector similar to the Mercedes E-class (and BMW 745iL) but it has an extra shield on top, and somehow seems to have alot more color than regular Hella bi-xenons.

But yeah, the light output on Maximas is nowhere NEAR what you get with a S2000 or TL projector.

Last time I checked, the king in the HID projector world was the Lexus LS430 projectors (probably made by Stanley) along with its auxiliary reflector bowl below the projector (which can't really be retrofitted into most other headlights). The whole assembly combined puts down an even wider beam than the S2000, nearly 180 degrees of light, straight out side to side and everything in front.

12,000K HID's HAH! Some coated PIAA high-wattage halogen bulbs probably put out more light than those.
