Curious what these leaks are coming from... just got this car today, supposedly the engine has 15k on a swapped longblock but im beginning to think otherwise... this plastic cover over the timing belt seems to be slightly ajar... and some oil is SLOWLY leaking out...

Hmmm.. pardon my noobness, im new to hondas and ive only been under my car for about 30 min, but that plastic piece that ive circled is the one that seems to be not seated properly... what exactly is that?

I hope its just the oil pan gasket.

Also I found oil in the plug chambers, that is valve cover gasket correct?

....the fellow who sold me it is apparently giving me the paper work later this week showing the swap of the longblock... I really hope he is legit... he works for microsoft and his house was very nice... so I dont think he would con me for 2700 dollars ^_^ im stupid

you talking about the timing cover?? your oil leak might be the crank seal... but an oil pan gasket is an easy swap, and prolly the cause of the leak

make sure your PCV system is working well because if its clogged it will increase pressue inside the motor promoting oil leaks

oil in the plugs is from the lower plug chamber gasket's, which you need to take the head mostly apart to replace

edit: Hmm so after doing some research, it does sound like it would be the crankshaft oil seal... Doesnt seem likely it could be the oilpan gasket, as the leak is above it I think.

This does not seem like the longblock has 15k miles on it.... if the crankshaft oilseal is leaking...

How PITA is it to change the crankshaft oilseal on these cars?

The oil on plugs isnt caused by the valve cover gasket? Ive been reading that quite frequently that is the cause of oil on the plugs.

Any idea what the 2nd leak could be coming from? Black sludge on the brake lines and the underbody of the car as you can see in the picture.
