what are the best drop in speakers for an EF sedan?
hi guys I just wanted to ask for people's opinions on some decent 5.25 inch drop in speakers for an EF sedan. I'm looking for something that has crazy "bright/crisp" tweeters and something that has some half decent mid bass (probably not that easy in a 5.25" size).
I guess since I'm asking for front speaker recommendations I guess i might as well as for rear speaker recommendations too.
I'm not looking at a component setup as I want a stock drop in fit. I am running no amps and have no intentions of doing so. The style of music I listen to is mostly pop/trance/house/light rock. No heavy metal or anything crazy like that.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

My EF came with really nice door speakers with tweeters....but, the previous owner cut the factory speaker covers to make room for the tweeter protrusion! Make sure you get something with low profile tweets!
if you want drop ins then you should just get some three way coaxial speakers. and you can run 6.5 in the front. you just have to trim the stock speaker mount. only thing is you gotta make sure that the spider is narrow. cause not all 6.5 are the same. some have big spiders so you would have to make a custom mount for them to fit. but if you want something decent, pioneer is fine. i have a pair of 6.5 @275w in the fronts. now the rear is another story. you can't run anything with a big magnet, big spider, and that is tall. cause of that stupid bar that goes across to help keep your trunk open. so you're going to have to get a 5.25 for that. if you're lucky though, and can find one you could fit 6.5 back there. plus if you have the stock speaker grill, that'll be fun to match up. but my best suggestion(even though i have pioneer in the front) get some JL speakers. they'll fit, just gotta make sure that the spider isn't too big.
I have Sony 6.5's all round, nice speaker and bass'ey. It fit in the back (cleared by around 1-2cm's) And the tweaters clear enough to get the stock covers on the front and the back. Sleeper!
Your Civic will take standard 6.5" speakers front and rear, [without mods as long as mounting depth is no more then 2" for the fronts]
Eclipse makes a standard 6.5" that will fit... http://www.eclipse-web.com/integrated/se8365.html with speaker harness adapters they are pretty much plug and play.
Infinity also makes some that will fit, although a little more work... http://www.infinitysystems.com...n=USA an "adapter ring" has to be installed to mount the speaker, not a big deal.
Other brands also have standard 6.5" speakers, Pioneer, Polk and Sony.
Do not confuse standard 6.5" speakers with over-sized 6.5" speakers, the mounting hole for the standard 6.5" speaker is 5", same as the cars stock speakers, mounting diameter hole for over-sized 6.5" speakers will vary in size from brand to brand and even model to model, but will be bigger then 5" making for a custom install.
Standard 6.5" speakers with a mounting depth of more then 2" will require a spacer ring or a hole, big enough for the magnet, cut into the back of the stock plastic speaker housing, [doors].

I was thinking of buying a pair of Focal 5" or 6.5" speakers if they were under $200 bucks from the local dealer in town...
But thanks for the tip.... I appreciate it!

you also need to take into account on whats going to push these speakers. Stock headunit, aftermarket, amp.
I just re-read my original post and I meant to say I DO NOT want a tweeter that is crazy crisp/bright sounding b/c it hurts my ears when I listen to certain music plus it doesn't sound as natural as it should.
