Default Sand blasting wheels what to use?

I working on my gf's wheels and i at first tried aircraft paint stripper but its too cold by me and it didnt work too well at all so im gonna try to sand blast off the old paint. The wheels are aluminum alloy so what kind of stuff should i sand blast with my friend told me to use play sand. What do you think?

cliff notes: What should i use to sand blast aluminum alloy wheels to get the paint of?

I'm searching about wheel painting right now all over these boards and in one post I remember reading somebody bought a sand blaster from Harbor Freight for $25 and $17 for a 5 gallon bucket of sand although he didn't say it was any kind of specific sand. Hope that helps abit.
