well if your familiar with the f22 engine layout, right above where i put in the oil filter, theres a plug that a allen wrench goes to unscrew the plug, it's leaking from there.

The only thing that comes to mind thats above the oil filter is the Oil Pressure Switch but that would use a socket to remove and has a connection in the middle for the wire harness to connect to it, not a socket for a hex key wrench.

I have a F22B1 sitting on the engine stand at home though, so I will try and take a look later today when I get home from work.

to another Michigan member. Not sure I have time right now to give a hand though, normally I would as I helped another member do his timing belt/water pump but I'm really busy with some things right now.

you should be able to just remove the plug, wipe everything clean, put some Hondabond on the threads and re-install the plug.

thats not my engine though. i have an actual f22b2 thats still in the car. i went to some auto place and they said the water pump line was in the way and if moved it would break. plus i'm dur dur when it comes to fixing cars. some other members on xceedspeed.com say they would put in a all new sending unit.

I know that not your engine... yeah I don't recall where that water pipe goes exactly but I will look later. Also, that water pipe is metal, not sure why they said it would break if moved? It won't move much anyway since it's metal and it's located between the thermostat housing and water pump.

Also, I'm not sure what you are referring to by "coolant plug on sending unit"? The coolant drain bolt on the block should be that nut/washer below that green sensor in that picture.

I assume you have a thread on XCeed? I don't go on their much, do you have a link to where this is being discussed there?

ok, wait a sec... The "sending unit" is not what you have circled in that picture. The sending unit is what I described earlier, just calling it a different name.

What you have circle there should just be a plug.

Are you sure it's coming from there or is it coming from above it at the oil pressure switch? That would be the sensor above that plug you have circled. I could be wrong but that may be located above the water pipe that runs across the back of the block.

Have you gotten done their and double checked what the shops are telling you? The shop on Dequinder, my friends girl went there to have an exhaust put on and I didn't care for the work personally. This was probably 4+ years ago though. But no way would I pay 900 for someone to pull my motor to fix this. You could buy another motor and put it in for less.

okie i went under the car just now, i really wish i had a better jack that went higher or a damn lift. from the feel of things since i dont have the mirror yet, the guy put jb weld over the entire area that he sad was "leaking". i felt oil all over it. when i looked up, the water pump line had oil all over that too. when i looked and felt the oil pressure switch that you said might be leaking, i think i felt pretty dry but i might be mistaken since my hands had a layer of oil and crap on them. i'm not sure but the whole area behind the intake mani. had alot of oil all over it. i really want someone that really knows what they are doing look at this, im a noob so my input isnt very reliable.

yeah, feeling with your hand when you cant see doesn't always work that great, especially if your hand is already dirty. You could try using a paper towel around that area and see if the paper towel picks up any oil from up there where you cant see. Or just go pick up a mirror real quick and give it another look.

Sorry, I was busy the other day and didn't get a chance to look at my F22B1. Yesterday I just plain forgot. I wrote myself a little note so that I would remember to look when I get home today

oh hey! thats okie, i dont wanna make this your number 1 thing to do you know. but yeah, i'm not certain but i remember after they did the jb weld, the car didnt smoke as much from oil leak like it used to. before smoke was everywhere ha. but i wrote a PM to you saying if i went ahead and asked someone to replace the head gasket on my car, you think we could find the problem better? i dont know if you wanna help me out with that or not but i will pay for parts and help. i really think replace the head gasket will help out since your taking off the head and being able to see better behind there.

hey, yeah so i responded to your answer on xceed. but yeah, i only want a couple things replaced ha, i dont want too big of a job for us. i usually like things be done in a day since it's my DD. but i'm done with getting matrials ha, so if you get all the same things like sprays and tools, i'll pay you, i have all the gaskets right now so if any seals are need i'll pay.

I am agreeing with TouringAccord. I think it is the oil pressure unit. Mine started leaking. I actually don't think the sensor is bad, but the sealant around it has probably just worn out. But if you want to replace the sensor, it's only like $15-$20. Be careful, the black boot that covers it will probably be brittle and try to crumble apart when you remove it to get to the sensor.
