Default Product Review: Hasport Solid Mounts

This is for all the drag racers that love having options.

I have been in the market of looking for good quality solid motor mounts. I have been a big fan of Hasport and have been using their product since I got my first Honda back in '99. It came to no surprise that their work was flawless. The quality of these motor mounts are second to none.

I have seen what is on the market now and have compared them in my own ways. Avid, which is a still a good company, their motor mounts were poorly machined (IMO) and had flaws that were noticeable to the naked eye. Elongated bolt holes and damaged giudes were unacceptable in my book. Innovative mounts, another known name, has just released their solid mounts and I have not had a chance to see them in person. From the stories that I have heard in the past I knew they were not an option for myself either.

Back to the review....

I had sent these mounts to Hasport exactly 2 weeks and 3 days ago from today's date. They did the machining of my existing mounts, and sent them back to me ASAP. This has left we with minimum down time.
*Keep in mind that Hasport is in CA and I live in CT. It took 5 business days to get there and 5 to get back.*

As you can see in the pictures the machine and press in process went flawless. The flaws that you see in the pics was from myself before I sent them to Hasport. I have been using these mounts since '03.

As far as mounting goes everything lines up perfectly. The mount bolts are snug, as they should be, and there is no slop or play at all. This is something that I was really concerned about when I sent them out. Obviously with the engine running there will be vibration. These were designed for race cars. Street cars should use at your own risk.

_-\* These are perfect if you are using a G-Force/Long shifter in your racecar */-_

The inserts that were removed from the mounts was sent back to me in case I wanted to return to stock form. The inserts are not damaged in any way shape or form. They sent back the steel guide as well, which is not damaged at all.

Here are some pics to show the quality of their craftsmanship....

So I would like to take this time to say thanks to Mr. Brian G @ Hasport for working with me to develop a great product. I have been complaining to him for a while about not having a solid mount option. lol

**Please don't ask me about pricing, I have no idea. I am not a dealer, just an end user.**

Well, please look again, Avids new line of mounts are extremely well crafted. Hasport for sure makes a good product, but bashing another company in a solo product review is not needed.

I provided my opinion.... for what it's worth.

I can show pics of what I am talking about if you wish, but I didn't think that was necessary. I'm sure they will still get the job done Jeffro.

Plus, you will defend them from a business standpoint, which is understandable. If I had a business I would most likely do the same. I am offering an unbiased opinion from the und user standpoint.

They are solid aluminum. I don't know of the grade, but if I had to guess I would say 6061. They are rather dense and hard too so I would say they seem like T-6 as well. No steel pin.

Seeing as how there is no play I don't expect any issues with them being solid aluminum. If there was that would be another story....

Well if you didn't get caught looking a kiddie **** at work then this wouldn't be an issue for you right now. lol

I have also been getting PM's about how shiny they are. I used a product called semi-crome. Took about 10 min each mount to come out like that. Nothing fancy either. I did it real quick for the pics. They were pretty nasty when I sent them out and when I got them back.

Chris said he used semi-chrome. I had no idea they still made it. I used that back in 1973 on my Cragar Mag Masters, slotted wheels.

so you have to have a set of hasport mounts first? Or do they sell a complete set with inserts pre-installed?

You would have to ask Hasport yourself. I had these already and requested solid mounts. I had to send them back to get it done. I'm sure that you can buy them new like this as well.

lol.....did you just do a product review of your old used mounts that you had them add an insert to and your not even sure if you can purchase the "solid mounts" as a ready to go set of mounts? just messing with you.

cool upgrade for people who already have hasport mounts

Um.... yeah actually. lol

I'm not a dealer so I don't know these details. I did look at their website and they now have an option to purchase the solid inserts.

we can install them in your existing mounts or you can order a set with the solid inserts installed.
