tuning my car
Is it really necessary to tune your car after every mod.
I have a 95 civic si with a b18c5 motor with stock gsr header and stock si piping.
Going to upgrade to hytech rep. header, hi flow cat and custom piping. Not sure what exhaust yet, but im thinking about the apexi ws2. Chipped obd1 gsr ecu.
Should i get the car tune or it is not necessary with those simple bolt on mods.

No, it's not necessary, but it will extract the true benefits of each mod. But for simple bolt ons in my opinion it is not really necessary. Good luck with your car!

What do you mean lean out.

I would def recommend the tune, but its obviously not necessary. Like Kelb was saying with your engine becoming lean, you might look to tweak the air/fuel ratios, but you shouldn't have to.
i have a friend with the same motor with bolt ons, he had it dyno'd and he was only pushing like 150 to the wheels. so i suggest you tune it even if its just bolt ons you will notice the difference.

150 with that setup and thats it??? definatly needs a tune or something.
i would get it tuned because when you open up the exhaust like that it is going to add more air and will more then likely lean out the A/F ratio. you cant get any better mod then a good tune to get the most out of your money and parts.

Varies. Could be anywhere from 200-700. Depending on who does it, how much time they spent on it, and what engine management you use.

Ok. I have a B16A3. I have basic bolt ons too, I/H/E. And I got my ECU tuned with Chrome, and it went from 143 ish whp to 150 whp with Chrome tuning. With a good tuner, you should see nice numbers. He also did the " check engine light is your shift light " thing, it turns on at 8,000 rpms. Tuning gave me better AF ratios, and it made my car feel slighty beefier below Vtec, anyways, it just felt a lot better after I got it tuned, with just basic bolt ons. Good luck!
