im pretty sure you need a chute @ 150mph.

10pt @ 9.99 or 135

Yes. Chute is based on MPH. 10pt and window net @ 9.99/135

If you paying someone to do the 10pt conversion along with a window net, might as well have them do the chute mount too.

You dont have to actually buy the chute or bolt it on untill 150mph et's but atleast the anchor and tug bar are there... thats the way i would look at it.

can someone confirm this?

Sorry to get even more off topic, but what about arm restraints? My local 1/8th track sad they could be used instead of a window net. Any truth to this? Not sure if my car will ever hit 135+ but it is going to be a scary ride either way.

we have never used arm restraints on our 8 second car.

the only time ive ever seen arm restraints used was on my fathers dirt track modified. (non drag)

imo, using the armrestraints would be more of a pita then cliping in the window net.

I think the need for a chute has even been reduced mph-wise. I'll check on that later today if someone doesn't confirm it.

lol. very good point, i didnt think of that. lol

on the dirt car, there is only 2 gears, you can put it into low gear with the car not moving(it wont move till you bump the "clutch" pedal.... the "clutch" is just used to move the car, then you jam it into high gear and thats it.

From BOTI 08 Rules :

Roll bar mandatory in all vehicles running
11.49 or quicker; roll cage mandatory in any car running 9.99 or quicker or 135 mph or faster. Non-OEM tubing in front of firewall prohibited
except to tie shock towers to roll cage. Roll cage in cars running
9.99 or quicker must be inspected every three years by NHRA and have serialized sticker affixed to roll cage before participation.

Wich is the same as NHRA 07 rules...

Anytime a roll cage is needed, so is a window net. There is no specific rule for the window net itself that i know of.

I would deff consider. When i dropped the car off, they had a few cars that needed certs. I think Tom was trying to get a cert guy there, in that case mine would be one of those cars. If not, then yea lets see how many more we can round up too.

OP is from CT! Yo man get that cage done so you can cert with us

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 10 PT is needed in a vehicle if the fire wall and frame have been modified. In order to go 9.99 or faster regardless of MPH.

When do I need a roll bar or roll cage, and what should it look like?
A roll bar is required in any convertible running 13.49 seconds or quicker in the quarter mile, and in other cars beginning at 11.49. The roll bar is accepted in vehicles running as quick as 10.00 second e.t., provided the stock firewall and floorboard is intact, other than for installation of wheel tubs. The rollbar must be constructed of minimum 1¾ inch o.d. x .118 inch wall mild steel tubing, or 1¾ x .083 chrome moly tubing. If the floor and/or firewall has been modified, then a full roll cage is required beginning at a 10.99 e.t. A full roll cage is required in any vehicle running 9.99 seconds or quicker, and any vehicle running 135 mph or faster (regardless of e.t.). The roll cage must be constructed of minimum 1 5/8 o.d.x .118 mild steel tubing, or 1 5/8 x .083 chrome moly tubing, and must conform to the following diagram:If the floor and/or firewall has been modified, then a full roll cage is required beginning at a 10.99 e.t. A full roll cage is required in any vehicle running 9.99 seconds or quicker, and any vehicle running 135 mph or faster (regardless of e.t.). The roll cage must be constructed of minimum 1 5/8 o.d.x .118 mild steel tubing, or 1 5/8 x .083 chrome moly tubing.

For you New Englanders, Call Diamond R.V. in MA, They hold NHRA Cage Certification sessions there. Give them a ring and ask them when the next NHRA Cage/chassis session is.

They go over the welds/points/material thickness - They don't really care for the window net in., and bring a check book or cash. Be there early, first come first serve, as the lot gets pretty crowded

Edit: Whoops didn't see Rotas post.

Assuming a 9sec License?

First off get your physical and bring all the forms with you to have it filled out by the naughty nurse or Doctor. Don't get your physical too early, The first year of your membership starts on the date you get your physical (I could be wrong)

Then head to the track

1 Half Pass
3 Moderate Passes
2 9 Second Passes

1 Blindfold test

All passes need to be signed off by Track Manager and 2 other licensed drivers.
" If you guys need someone to go up and sign, I'll sign"

You do not have to do all the runs in one day, although tracks such as Lebanon Valley, When you register with them, and tell them your doing license passes they'll get you in before other lanes(pretty much whenever your ready) so you might be able to fit them all in.

Runs can be made on Saturday and Sundays. No Wed. Night Street nights.

No joke. You need to know where everything is in the car. All switches and safety mechanisims.
