Brembo Blanks vs Brembo Slotted Rotors
This is for my 96 Accord EX 4 cyl.
I have a set of Brembo blanks with AEM brake pads on there. This is my second set of Brembo blanks but my first set of AEM brake pads. Well, I've had these maybe 6 months and they are already shaking like they are warped. The last set lasted years.
I'm thinking I'm going to replace them. Should I get the slotted ones or the blanks again? The slotted ones are about $100 more for the set. Also should I go with AEM pads again or a different set? If different what kind? I plan on leaving my rears alone which are Brembo blanks with AEM pads also as I just put them on.
This car is a DD/beater so I want something that will last quite a while.

I just go with the Autozone specials on the 4-door, no complaints there.
Also no need to go slotted for a DD/beater - 140 hp doesn't require it and it'll eat the pads quicker.
Brembo blanks + whatever

Whoa! 3 sets of rotors eh? I'm on my 2nd one... on my 96 Accord.
I know Ceramic type pads are really harsh on rotors. You could try going semi metallic and carbon metallic. Sacrifice the pads instead of the $$$ rotors.

Obviously if it's a DD you'd wanna go with blanks. Slotted will eat your pads faster because that's exactly what they were designed to do. They slightly scrape the pad material so that it doesn't glaze over. Cross-drilled are also another thing to stay away from because they have the possibility of cracking around the holes. Also, how aggressive are the pads you bought? Obviously if you purchased a set of race-oriented pads, they're going to eat your rotors faster, especially if they're a kevlar pad.
If you want a set of street/DD pads, go with the Hawk HPS or Porterfield R4-S. They will provide a little more bite than OEM replacements will, but won't eat your rotors like a set of race pads will. But in all honestly, I've never seen problems yet with a regular set of pads from any major retailer. If you don't like brake dust, get a set of ceramics, but keep in mind they are a little more costly. And I've never heard of ceramic pads being harder on rotors than semi-metallic or carbon metallic. *shrug*

IIRC, AEM pads are very similar to OEM pads.
On the rotors that lasted years, what pads were you using on them? AEM or something different?
And I would stay with Brembo blanks. No need to spend more on slotted.

I have been using the brembo sloted and drilled for over a year now, with pro stop ceramics, and still have no problems. it might just be me though. I do have to do the breaks hear in a month or so, but still has twice the min.
When I had the Brembo blanks before I initially put a set of Nissin/Axxis or something pads on there. I forgot what exactly it was but it was something like that where it had 2 brands listed. It was something Nopi at the time carried. After those wore out OEM Honda pads got put on. When those started wearing out I noticed a slight shaking but not too bad so decided to change the rotors.
These are the AEM brake pads I have now.

I only got them as I ordered the Nopi Brand that said they were made by Gransport. They were like $33 a set or something. Well, the called and said they didn't have the rear instock of that brand but they could upgrade them to the AEM's for $10. I figured since it was only the rear that was out of stock I'd only get the rear AEM pads as they were normally double the price. Well, when I got it they had upgraded the front and rear pads both to AEM. So I basically got both sets of AEM ones cheaper than that front set there. Nopi has always been great to deal with.
I may just go with another set of Brembo blanks then. I hate to turn the rotors so I don't really want to do that. It just seems to me like if you turn them they then warp 3x as fast.
I knew not to go with the drilled rotors as I've heard they crack. Thats why I was curious about the slotted ones.
As for the guy that said he is only on his second set of rotors he seems lucky. I don't know why but I've been through so many rotors on this car I cant count.
I had a shop put a set on and they seemed to last about 3 months each set. They kept getting replaced under warranty. Finally I got new tires and that seemed to fix the problem of it shaking even though it only did it when on the brakes so they along with I thought it had to be the rotors. Then after those wore out I'm not sure if I got a set of OEM ones or not. It may have still been the last warranty replacement but shaking started back up again although not that bad and I put a set of Brembo's on. It may have been something else causing the shaking. I'm kind of thinking it might not have been the rotors but I did several things at that time. Well, after 2 sets of brake pads they started shaking slightly and I thought what the heck I'll do the rotors when I do the brake pads. So I then had the Brembo's put back on again and the AEM pads as the Brembo's were the best longest lasting rotors I've tried. Well, this set lasted maybe 6 months and is shaking a decent amount when you hit the brakes like they are warped. I know I need the tires balanced as it shakes about 60mph too but I hate to do that when they are almost worn out. I have a new set of tires in the basement I may put on in the near future but I'm trying to let these wear out a little more first. I don't see how the tires could cause it to shake worse when you get on the brakes though so I'm thinking the rotors have to be warped too.
