AiM Sports MXL users?
Are there any of you using one of these dashes in your HC, IT, or PT cars?
Their data logging suite looks really fantastic. I recently noticed they have support for RS-232 communications for K-Pro and all the AEM units.
Fairly expensive but really looks like the top shelf stuff, just looking for some feed back.
Thanks!
Sander

RacePak's new IQ3 is worth considering too. They've obviously got the AiM MXL square in the cross hairs. A good deal cheaper than the MXL Pista and it comes with GPS as standard...

Too bad the MXL doesn't interface with an OEM Honda ECU.
I went with the Race Technology DL1 and Dash2. With the new pricing for the package, it's slightly cheaper than the MXL Pista, and much cheaper than the Pista if you include the GPS track mapping module. I also like the fact that the accelerometers are in the datalogging module and not in the display.
I do like the MXL display quite a bit more than the Dash2, though.

From my understanding this is the case unless it is dedicated for coms with OBD1 in particular.
That racepak looks nice, I would be curious to see how the sensors and options jack up the price.

There's really only so much you can do with an LCD dash layout, We are in the midst of redesigning ours (originally done back pre 1998) and there really isn;t anything new or fancy to do with the LCD stuff. There is some new LED shift light and warning light stuff but that's about the majority of it.
I personally think the AIM stuff is a great bang for your buck entry level Data logging system. It allows the user to grow as they do.
The one thing I could not stand about the system is the software, it doesn't seem very intuitive and its fairly cryptic.
This is just comparing it to other systems I have worked with.
But, like I said bang for your buck you can;t go wrong

Thanks for the input

OBDII ECUs should have a standard OBDII data stream that in theory should be easily documented. OBDI ECUs, however, require a request for a piece of data then the ECU responds, rather than a constant stream of data.
I have an MXL Pro in my E30 and I just love it. Uncluttering the dash was a huge benefit in my opinion. The AIM software is a bit tough to get used to, but once you get some templates set up for processing your data, it's a breeze.

I wanted to bring this back up.
I will be purchasing one in about week or so and I was looking to see if anyone else has searched around for prices. No matter where I go they seem to be $1,999 for the Pista. I don't want the Strada because it's just a gauge display. I want the logging ability.
Any help or hookups would be great.

That is the price, and all people sell it for that much. Andrie Hartanto, a honda challenge racer, is a dealer. That is who i buy all my AIM stuff from.
Whenever possible i always try and support racers!
