Brakes Newbie (still) Having a Hard Time
Hey I made a similar post about this but I have a new problem
I was having difficulty bleeding my brakes using the shop manual's method of the 2 person pumping the brakes and releasing the bleeder valves. I wasn't able to pressurize the system and it was getting cold so I gave up.
Anyway I was told the easiest 1-man way to bleed was to vacuum pump them. So I went to Auto Barn and bought a hand pump.
Hand pump was cheap and works great.
However, I was having a lot of trouble creating a seal because I realized the air was coming in through the threads on the bleeder bolt. A little Teflon thread tape sealed that but now I CANNOT get the system pressurized.
No matter how many times I go around I still have microscopic bubbles coming out of the bleeder valve and the brake pedal will not get hard. I know the bleeder bolt is sealed and I have no leaks elsewhere. They are 4 new OEM calipers and fresh brake fluid. The hand pump is not leaking or introducing air and keeps a vacuum.
I pull the vacuum on the bolt, then open the valve, it keeps vacuum pressure and pulls out fluid (along with microscopic bubbles on driver/front, driver/rear and passenger/rear not on passenger/front for some reason) and I bleed it until the cup gets full and keep filling up at the master cyl.
What's going on?! What am I missing!!
What (if anything) could be broken or what am I not doing right?
Thanks in advance for any help/opinions.

just put the bottle in the reservoir upside down, don’t worry it won't leak or overflow. put the tube over the bleeder valve and crack it open let gravity do it's job and watch for the bubbles to stop coming out. repeat in sequence seen above.

OK Thank You!
I will try this when I get back home... I'm making the assumption from your diagram that "4" is driver's side front.
I may have been opening the bolt too far and purring the brake fluid bottle upside-down on the resivor is an awesome idea to save time.
I'll try again... thanks again!

what do you mean "pressurize the system"?
like when its all done, you dont get a firm pedal?
what did you replace or do to your brakes recently?
i still think a mity vac is a horrible way to bleed the system. try the 2 person method again.
this time, route the bleeder hose upwards a bit so it arcs above the caliper/wheel cylinder a few inches. then leave the bleeder open while you pump the brakes SLOWLY a few times. this allows any air in the brakes to float to the top, and wont get back into the system even tho you dont close it off when you let go of the pedal. it makes for 2 man bleeding much easier and quicker and better overall.

Yea by pressurize I mean no air... I meant no pressure in the pedal... it just goes to the floor.
And, yes, they're new calipers all around.
That slow pump method's a great idea and makes sense, Tyson, I'll have to attempt that as well. Unfortunatly due to my work schedule I haven't been able to try anything as of yet.
Thanks for all of the help though. I'll post when/if I find the solution to this.
All I can do is just hope it's the method and not the hardware.
Thanks Again!
