Safety Devices Roll Cage - Anyone know anything about these?
I ran across this company almost by accident. They're out of the UK.

Just wondering if anyone has seen one of their cages. The idea of the "safety weld" cage seems appealing. It's hard to tell what the exact construction would be for my car since these are generic pics. Some of the kits seem to have a diagonal bar from the hoop to the floor (is that a petty bar?). This would probably be a problem since I'm guessing it would be designed for a RHD.

They are top-notch. Very popular with the PCA crowd. A little pricey. Their USA distributor is Stable Energies in NJ. I've bought other stuff from them and they are a good outfit.

SD makes really nice cages, for "bolt ins". Their primary market penetration in the US was among rallyists. They fit tightly and protect the shell in case of a rollover and some of their cages are FIA homologated - not critical for stateside applications but interesting...

Thanks... I was actually looking at their "safety-weld" cage... which is a weld-in cage that's partially welded from the factory. I'm still waiting on pricing right now.

While I'm at it, Sparco makes a weld-in cage that seems pretty nice. It would be $775 delivered. I'm having a hard time finding the exact specs of this bar for my car though... all I can find is a generic sketch.

BTW, I'm not trying to make some "fashion statement" or anything... it's just that I'm a little torn.
I'm not extremely happy with the idea of something like a Autopower bolt-in bar. I'm also not extremely happy with spending $2000 on a custom cage. I'm looking for some in-between. I can't bend pipe, but I could weld it. Somehow I feel like I'm going to be asking about cage builders eventually, but I'm fighting it right now.
I KNOW what Krause and England charges and I don't like it, BUT, having to drag my car to another state, leave it there, then pick it back up some point later is a real PITA and I'd pay a little more not to have to do that...

You probably already understand this but, just in case, make SURE that whatever option you choose meets your sanctioning body's requirements. There was a time when SD cages did NOT meet SCCA road racing specs (due to metric tubing measurements that were too small, I think?)
"Bolt in" is a bit of a misnomer where SD products are concerned. You typically have to weld in the plates that the major pieces bolt to. I don't know much about the "safety weld" kits that you describe, however.

Thanks...
Checking tubing diameters and thicknesses are definitely on my must-do list before making any purchases.

yah, check the tubing size to make sure it meets US. i wonder if they can do it to "US" regulation spec.
SD cages are really nice. a weld in kit is about $1200 i think. they fit SUPER snug. i know they have EG/DC/EK kits. i've seen the EK HB cage.

Does anyone have pics of the Safety Devices cages? I got a email from them saying that the Safety Devices weld in cage is no longer offered, instead only a regular weld in version is offered (DC specific, may not be the case for EG/EK).
Thanks.
Thanks.
