Default (((Noob question about muffler)))

I'm wanting to try to steer away from the "Bumble bee", or "Fart can" canister design.

Would any of you have any suggestions on a muffler, that produces a low tone, not too extremely loud, that has a similar design like the straight flow type, that is reasonable in price?

I've been looking into a few of the "Dynomax", "Hooker", "Flowmaster" etc.

Right now I have a high flow cat, and I'm planning on upgrading the header and E. man. in the future.

I've seen alot of $**t on line that says that you will gain 8-15 hp with a specific type of muffler.....But I believe that's mostly BS unless you upgrade the exhaust system.

Any ideas fellas?

A lot of guys on here like myself are running Magnaflow mufflers. I love the sound of mine, there are a crapload of different styles and sizes, plus they come with a life time waranty

I have the Greddy Evo2 cat-back system and I couldn't be happier with the way it sounds, personally. It has a nice, smooth, deep tone with no rasp, but I don't know if it's the kind of look you're going for. Some would consider it kind of a fart-can design, but not I. Pricey though. Here's a few pics in case you don't know what it looks like:

How does that magna flow sound? Any noticeable gain?

Also what series?

The "Greedy" is sweet, but a little to pricey.

If you think the Greddy is expensive, then you'd **** if you saw the price tag on the rims.

Look into a twinloop style as well. I have a magnaflow "fart can" style on my other prelude its not to bad, but i prefer the sound of the twinloop over it.

lol. "Scrim12".....I don't have a problem paying a somewhat high/decent price for a set of rims/tires.

I just don't see paying $200 plus for a specific sound in a muffler. Now if I where to gain 10 to 15 hp......That would be another thing.

To each his own, I guess.

I love my car.....But I don't love her that much. lol.

clearance was a bit tricky at first but nothing to bad. just took them bending a few different bends then stock to make it work. Mine sits just flush with the rear bumper and it doesn't hang down to low only scraped it once i believe in about 9 months.

+1 I'm running the same exact thing on the same car and love it. Our cars look just alike except for the rims.

like VROOM!!!!

It gets loud but not obnoxiously loud. But I love the deep-tone to it.

In higher rpm's it still doesnt rasp or give any fart can type of sounds and it sounds amazzing when vtec kicks on yO

I got my muffler from powerflow, and had twin 3.5" tail pipes fitted. So it looks like original style just bigger. Sound wise, i love it, it has a low and deep note and no rasp and was very reasonable price wise. I had the muffler painted black when it was fitted and it looks neat. And it is alot less restrictive compared to the oem one. So i would be happy to recommend powerflow to anyone cause their product has been great for me. Goodluck finding something that will suit you

I wouldn't be able to tell you the exact gain with the Greddy, but i DID notice a bit of power difference. I only have the H23 in that lude right now, but i have beaten 5th gens with it and sounded great doing it.
