My Honda-Challenge Report.
First, I just want to say it was great to finally meet the NASA VA group ... Corey, Warren, Jack, Todd, Chris, Alex, Robert, Scott, Karl ... and who ever else I'm missing.
I'm still sore, sunburn, and dead tired from the event .... but it was well worth it!!!
It was my first time at Summit Point ... so I knew the "local" boys had a bit of an advantage. I had hoped to come a day early and get a few practice sessions in on Friday ... but that idea was scratched, as I was still prepping the car late Thursday night. Luckily, I found the track fairly easy to pick up ... learned a lot from watching Corey & Alex's line in practice. Thanks
My start on Saturday was a disaster. I didn't even see the green flag at all. I was lined up behind Jack ... and pretty much floored it when he started to move. Warren was next to me, and just pulled away from me. I had nothing for Corey and Alex on Sat. I was actually happy to see the pace car ... but was unable to gain any postions on the restart ... damned lap traffic
. Congrats to Alex for the win and Corey for the "best perfomance award."
On Sunday, I qualified 3rd overall. I was much more prepared for the start. I was wearing my radio ... and had my brother scream and yell "GO, GO, GO" when the green was shown. I had a bit of wheel spin, but otherwise got off to a good start. The race was extremly exciting! Corey and I battled the entire race ... I have never raced anyone harder
. I was able to brake pass him in turn 1 early in the race ... but he out-pulled me through turn 2 to regain the position. The rest of the race was a pure battle. Yes, I love your draft Corey
. Throughout the race I was able to gain some time in turn 5-7 ... but would lose most of it on the longer straights. I really started to push it with about three laps to go in the race. On the white flag lap, I got a good run off turn 10 and tucked into Corey's draft. I braked extremely late coming into turn 1. I took the inside line, and pulled side by side with the lude. Still side by side into turn two ... I hear Corey miss a shift (I'll post the video later). Little did I know he had broken an axel. I went on to take my first H-C WIN!!! Hat's off to Corey for a great race ... we sure put on a great show
. I bet it would have been an very exciting run to the checker if Cory had not broken the axel. See all of you at CMP.
Side note: Corey and I had identical average speeds in race two: 80.07mph!

You and Corey were the best show of the weekend out at turn 1. My hat's off to both of you for some very hard, but clean racing. Hopefully technical problems won't arise next race for Corey and we'll have our first ever HC photo-finish
Adam, I thought my races with Alex were tough enough, but man, you sure gave me one hell of a run!! I was scared as **** when I saw the white flag, all I could think of was keeping you behind me... I about pissed my pants when I saw you diving in on me into 1 on the last lap!! I gave you the inside if you could actually get slowed down to take it... I usually take T1 in 3rd gear, but grabed 2nd and basically did a WOT dump to get an awesome launch, yea well, SNAP.. What I found out was, my boot had basically dried up from the intence heat of the rotors, and lost fluid, and it just couldn't take it anymore..
I came into the race on Sunday based on the qualifying, and I was about 1.3 seconds in front of you, I did some adjustment to the car to help save the tires, well, It understeered bad. All I did was put 2 more PSI in the front, but forgot to do the same to the back.. Also took my rear 1/8" toe out, and set it to 0.. I was understeering everywhere, so bad I could tell I was in trouble on my warm up lap, I had to do some Serious trailbraking to get the car to turn, and more than once she got pretty sideways in front of you... Would love to see some of that on video if you ever get to it.. Thanks for the hard and clean racing, I had a blast!!

I had a blast also. I will get some video footage posted tonight. I have a great shot of you getting sidways in turn 10! Must of been those blues that overheated the rotors
. You were flying all weekend ... a 1:28.xx lap time
. Very impressive considering the hot conditions. My rotors are also toasted ... just put them on before the race.
