Default ATS parts review

GOt myself another R tranny, and I will be installing the ATS 3-4-5 gear set today.
I'll probably be installing the transmission tomorrow. Reviews will be posted when install is complete. Hope for the best. I know I am.

are u goin with their 4.9 fd too?

the 3,4 and 5 gears keep the revs more in vtec around 6300 when shifting at 8000 as opposed to it dropping to like 5800

i'm sure he'll like the difference fo sho!

Well for one thing, more traction off the line.

ATS changes the shift points..... making the gears a lot closer together....while the final drive just changes (raises) the rpm in relation to speed but does NOT change the shift points.

Mike... get the 1st gear from ATS...it's just on the counter... I drove Alan's car with it and it's awesome....it won't rev out as quick to keep traction....

1st stock = End of post for correction.
1st ATS = 3.077

ATS recognized the problem with loss of traction with a numerically higher FD and released this "budget" gear ...the last one required you to buy both counter and main...along with the gear.... (I think?)

They have 2 versions as a result.....for the 4.4 ring and the 4.785 and 4.9...

EDIT, sgT is right with the stock 1st gear being 3.231...some books say this number others say 3.230

Dropped the trans yesterday, installed the Spoon flywheel and Exedy clutch a few minutes ago. Waiting for Honda to deliver some MTF around lunchtime.

Review this afternoon. Stay tuned...

Just finished the install.
The Exedy clutch adjustment was a real bitch. But other than that, the ATS gear set is awesome. This gear set makes the 4.929 look WEAK.
1st and 2nd gears seem awfully long for me, but then again I am back to a 4.40 final drive. I guess I got used to the 4.92 working 1st and 2nd gear.

But aside from that, shift into 3rd at like 8500rpm, and it drops to about 6700rpm or so. Identical drop from 3rd to 4th and from 4th to 5th.
At 100km/H(62mph), I am at approx. 4100rpm in 5th gear.
NOT a good thing for the highway, but I am glad I did it.
