Default Burn Smell

Hey I own a 2007 si sedan and about last week on friday my engine started smelling burnt when I drive. It was pretty noticable in the begining but now I can smell it coming from under the hood.

I hope its not my engine or some poor cat in there

But from what I can see theres nothing in there or anything wrong. I do drive my car hard sometimes, but I rarely shift when the shift light blinks or redline.

My question is.... has this happened to anyone or has anyone heard of this? I need an oil change in the next week so ill prob take it to the dealer to see if they can find anything wrong.

Thanks

Heh, Could be burn of clutch maybe? Not shifting correctly? Stoping to hard? Could mean a lot of things .. The car is brand new doubt you have any mechincal related problems.. Are you letting the clutch go to soon?

If it were a cat the smell would be MUCH worse than simple "burning".

Have you had your oil changed recently? They might have accidentally spilled some on the engine. If so the heat would cause it to give off an odor.

update what was the smell i'm curious?

Another thought is do you down shift a lot because i know some people tend to ride the clutch when down shifting causing it to burn.

yea bro 9 times out of 10 its a plastic bag that gets stuck under the car and gives it a burnt smell. Check under your car.

Yea so I was putting on my intake today and I found a snickers wrapper burnt to the side of my engine. Maybe thats what it was because it doesnt smell burnt anymore.

And the dealer said I prob destroyed my clutch cuz Im 19 and I have an SI. I knew it wasny my clutch!!!! Funny thing is that the dealer told me that alot of teenagers come in with si's that have like 15k on them and there clutch is gone.

Thanks everyone
