Hornet alarm only works now when ignition is on. wtf

i recently disconnected my power and ignition wire to do some work on my car and left the alarm disconnected for a few weeks. Today i reconnected the two wires and my alarm only works when the car is on. obviously i need it to work when the car is off(duh). but i have no clue why it is not working now.

I reset the alarm, took off the neg terminal on the battery and still nothing. Any clues? It is the basic 2 button Hornet alarm. It is comparable to the Viper 300.

Man it sounds like one of those to wires you disconnected is hooked to something keyed. If you hook it to something that stays hot all of the time (battery) then everything should work fine. Unless i have misunderstood you, that should be it. What is the model number of the hornet.

What do you mean you disconnected your "ignition wire"? What wire is that?

Sounds like you reversed your alarm's power and ignition inputs or something crazy.

If the alarm worked before you disconnected the alarms ign. and constant power inputs and now it works only when key is on, then you have switched the inputs.
