Alpine Type-R speakers? want no sub/amp
well i want to upgrade my system but i dont want any subs or an amp. i jsut want some replacement speakers that will pound hard and sound clear. so ive been asking around and everyone has told me that the best bang for my buck are Alpine Type-Rs with the tweeters. does anyone have them? and if so how do they sound? bass and voice?? thanks in advance
well i got the 6 1/2 inch components SPR-17s up front, and the 6x9 coaxel SPR-69c in the back, and its one of the cleanest, and clearest sets of speakers i have heard. also i have a alpine MRP-F550 running them.

Exactly.
You don't run Type R's without an amp producing at least the speaker's RMS power rating.
A Jensen indash sure as hell isn't going to put out anywhere close to a Type R's RMS wattage.
If you're not going to amp those speakers, stick with stock.

I have a Alpine MRP-F450 running some Polk DB components and some rear Polk DB coaxials and they sound decent. I wanted the Momo's but they wouldn't have fit in my truck without a lot of custom work I don't think. They sound decent for the money.
While I think they sound good I've yet to hear a set of components I think sounds anywhere near as good as subs. I think you really need subs to get good low notes.

Bullshit. Ask FCM about his setup and how many subs he's got.
It's all about tuning and proper enclosures for each speaker.

I have to agree with most of the above, the Alpine Type R speakers, although a pretty good speaker, can't be driven properly without an "off-board' amp, the Alpine Type R 6.5" coax are 100W continuous the 2way components are 110W continuous, your Jenson HU will be about 4x13W RMS into 4 ohms, You will destroy the speakers in no time.
If you really do not want to install an amp you are going to have to look for something else, Infinity, Polk and Eclipse make some good speakers that will run on HU power, even the Alpine Type S is a better speaker for what you want... http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-e...-17C2
As for bass response, 13W RMS is still low for producing good bass, but with proper speaker install it can sound OK.
