i just installed a new intake manifold and after i was done i realized that my clutch was grabbing really ealry all of a sudden, then the clutch started grabbing earlier and earlier( even between driving periods) and now i can only start the car and it wont go into gear.. im guessin its just a coincidence but im not sure.. any suggestions???

 

check how much fluid is in the clutch resevior. probably won't be any.. so find the leak. the leak could only be in the line or at the clutch slave or master cylinder.

yeah check your fluids, if there isn't any, put some in and bleed it.

so i checked the resevior and it was bone dry, im pretty sure it was the master cylinder that went bad since there is fluid underneath of it .. now i know i have to bleed the line after i put more fuid in but the only problem is that im away at school and i cant work on my car here so is it possible to just put fluid in and drive it home just as a temporary?

 

alrite..me and my buddy went thru the sameeee prob a month ago..i dropped him off sumwhere in his car..i drove itback..and all of a sudden the clutch stopped grabbing and car stallled!! and it wouldnt go into any gear!!...so yea buddy its clutch!! and for the tim being u mightt also have a bubble in ur tranny..we had two of those choices!! so we got a new clutch..now its absolutly fine.. it was a teggy gsr

 

we had to keep on pumpin the tranny to get rid of the bublle or w.e..so yea..new clutch real soon would be helpful

ok but that doesnt answer my question.. i need to know if i can drive it home without bleedin the lines

 

It's 1 8mm nut that you need to loosen and tighten. Just find someone to help you by pumping the pedal and holding it down while you bleed it. It's better to do that and know it was the right way to do it than to have something mess up in the middle of the road.

which nut are u talking about b/c i read in the manual that to bleed the line i need to jack up the car to get to the valve behind the dust cover

I'm talking about the nut on the slave cylinder. There's no need to jack up the car at all. Just make sure to have a bottle of fluid ready and keep checking the reservoir so it doesn't go dry while you're bleeding it.

 

where exactly is the slave cylinder located?

And it is located to the left of your headers/heat shield. It is on front of the transmission.

What?

No, just take a piece of hose and stick it on the end of the bleeder valve, then submerge that hose's end in a container filled with brake fluid. Then loosen the bleeder nut and go pump your clutch. If you position things right, you can pump the clutch and watch your container until you stop seeing air bubbles come out. Just make sure you don't drain the resevoir dry.

It's an easy process and shouldn't take you more than 10 or 15 minutes tops. Take a bottle of brake fluid and everything you used to bleed it with you and you can repeat if necessary until you make it wherever you are going safely.

 

The bleeder valve is 8mm not 10mm.
