Default Grilles: 97-98 vs. 99-01/ does Honda even sell the 99-01?

okay, here's the deal. This thread could probably be under the "where can i get this" thread, but i think it's a common question among a lot of 97-98/wrecked 99-01 owner's , so therefore can be made a quicker reference by posting in a separate thread.

The 97-98 grille is a grille consisting of 3-4 horizontal slots. This looks far outdated compared to the 99-01 grille, which honda updated to a honeycomb style.

The problem with this is, honda only seems to make the 97-98 style grille for sale in it's parts catalog. I have searched many times, only to find the older grille. It seems like the only way for someone to get a hold of the newer grille is to get one from someone who is parting out their 99+ lude, and even then it is super hard to get it because this is like the first thing to go.

just wanted to throw this out there, and see if i am indeed wrong (which i hope because i want one) and to generate some comments about this

I too have been looking into the grille for the 99-01 for my 97. If you go to Majestic Honda parts catalog, I was able to do a search for the car, and for system/component I put "bumper". The grille is number 7, and it shows a different product number for the grille if you do a search for '97 and '01 parts. Hope this helps.

Am I correct in assuming that two product numbers from majestic would indicate that they are, in fact, the different model grilles?

well it turns out we have good news.

year / part number
1997 32784\
1998 32784/
1999 32785\
2000 32785 >
2001 32785/

that's no coincidence. i just double checked it with another site, and it turns out they do make 97-98 separate from 99-01. Thanks for helping my dumbass finally find this out.

the 99-01 is 102.00 at mileoneparts.com

anyone know if a 99+ grille will fit/work on a 98> prelude??????
