What do you mean? What were they built for?

the evo and sti are rally cars the dc5-r is more of a autoxing/time attack car. If that's what you mean.

Two are legal in the states. The other will set you back more money and a hell of a lot more time legalizing than the two.

I've seen a couple for sale. I don't know if they were legalized for the road or not. It's easier done in Canada.

 

what im asking is if i took an sti and a real integra type r to the track what would happen?

 

AWD, 300 hp, and computer integrated differential with steering wheel sensor vs FF and 220 hp

No its not. The car has to be 15 years old to be legally imported and driven in canada.

It's still possible and cheaper in Canada if it's newer than 15 years ago. My buddy does it. He won't tell me how, but he does it.

 

ya, you will get beat, pretty hard to, pretty much in every way, including autoxing,
you know the whole AWD drive. but i can kinda hang with a sti from a roll, not off the dead stop though.

did u guys see an Sti vs. a DC5 TYPE R???? or are u assuming?

 

Both cars compete in different classes. comparing both would be like comparing apples to oranges.

It's like comparing a toyota tacoma to a truck powered by a cummins.

 

to be honest i think they are assuming the sti, evo will outperform the DC5-R in those areas because it makes more power and they are both AWD. But in autoxing sheer power isn't everything.

Empathy is right that is still like comparing apples and oranges.

IMO: like i said before STI, Evo are both rally cars. The DC5-R is more of a autoxing/time attack car because of the handleing and it's power. Autoxing is not won by sheer power but by driver skill and handleing.

first its common sense a awd will out handle a ff car esp a sti or evo compared to a type-r. understeer city sucks. dc5-r has potential, but so does the sti. stock for stock sti. but depending on how well the driver knows their car, anything can happen. but if you put the stig in both cars, the sti would win. btw just because its used for rally doesnt mean its meant strictly for rally. porches has rally cars. doesnt mean they wont burn you on the track

truth be told, rally cars are generally running dirt tires and their gears are generally really short, so their top speed would be quite limited because of their gearing, so they would lose on any slightly long straightaway.

I dont think so man. I have yet to see a RHD car 15 years or newer here, old skylines are common here now. We don't even have LHD Evo's here. Canada FTL

 

AWD doesn't mean much in a autox race. It would depend soley on the course. Remember, the Type R has a longer gear ratio and a higher final drive. Doing a circuit means that you probably will never get into your fifth and sixth gear. It's more agility and power to weight. The power to weight difference is terrible in both the Evo and Sti. I think with a course of twists and turns the type R would pull out the win. I've raced Sti's and Evo's in a EH with 230hp and spanked that *** for a bit, then they walked me down. They're overall power doesn't matter much in an autox course. Remember that the turbo in an Evo doesn't spool till 4000rpm and it only goes to 7500rpm. The Type R, 4.7 final drive shifting at 9000rpm. IMO the type R would take them both.

 

umm stock for stock, evo and sti come with better tires than a type r.
