Maintenance reminder set by oil changer?
Is the maintenance reminder set when someone changes the oil? The light on our Civic just went on after about 3,500 miles since the last oil change. I'm wondering if the tech at Honda gets to set when the light goes off, or is this automatically calculated in the ecu? TIA!
sorry i dont have access to the manual. It still doesn't exactly say if the maintenance reminder is controlled by the person who resets it, or is automatically run by the ecu. What I mean is, if I do an oil change, can I set WHEN the reminder goes off? say 5,000 miles, or 6,000 miles?
no. after an oil change you just reset it and oil life goes back to 100%. the ecu does the calculations and tells you when to switch again and lowers the percentages as you drive
