Dont buy a used set of slicks. One thing other than wear is how old the rubber is and how many heat cycles they have been through. The rubber gets harder and less sticky everytime the tire gets hot and then cools down.

Used slicks may be ok for you. How many times do you plan on using them?

Do you plan to race for a championship or just run the car to see how fast your car is.

rota cut a 1.54 60ft with over 30 passes on the slicks.

Don't spend $300.00 for just a few runs.

All slicks have wear holes in them. If your buying them on line ask how deep the holes are. No I haven't measured a new set. May be someone here knows how deep new ones are.

One thing you'll want to do is rotate the slicks from side to side every couple of runs.

Oh, M/T's seem to work the best for us.

If you know the person you are getting them from and they are trust worthy, it could be OK. At the same time people normally take them off when they are warn out.

I would spend the 300 just so I knew the history of the slicks.

1992si knows what he is talking about also.

I think the bottom line here is just don't guy buy a set of slicks from Joe blow cause you might get taken advantage of.

i will usually sell my slicks every 10 pass's. after that, on my car, they show that they arnt gripping as well...but they will still work perfectly on a car making less power. our spfwd cars are making WAY more power than the tires we run on are intended for.

like dan said, i'd only buy them if you know the person you are getting them from, or they are a reputable person here on HT or something.
