is it worth it?
For the money you spend on the swap you could probably just bore your 929 out to a 954.
And ultimately you're talking about 25cc.
I'm not saying don't do the swap because I don't know if it's a simple process or not, i'm just wondering if it's worth the trouble.

Looks like there's a difference, but is it noticeable on the street?

It's simple, for a motor swap, if you get a complete 945 motor and wiring harness, and the 954 gauges. The motor fits right in, all you need to do it add a few washers under the tank to raise it up slightly so the 954 airbox will fit.

IF you go cheap, it can be done, but you will have to splice some of the wiring together, make your airbox slightly larger to fit the 954 throttle bodies, get a 954 rectifier (it's a difference charging system than on the 929) and I'm sure a few other small things.

So if you can find a complete swap for cheap, then I say it may be worth it. If you can't find all the 954 parts, then it's probably too much of a hassle unless you have a ton of extra time.

Or you could just sell your 929 and buy a 954.

There are 1mm over pistons available for the 929, but its a bore and replate job since its nikasil. 1mm over is 954cc. I can get them if you want to go that way. Probably not worth it unless the engine needs taking down anyway.

Are you doing this to add power, or because the 929 motor is blown?
