Default How to: DIY amber clock

[edit] http://www.geocities.com/mt3c [/edit]

I'm at work and very bored.

Remove clock from dash.

Remove 4 screws from back.

Disassemble and apply translucent film* to viewable numbers.

Reassemble and install into car. Remember to reset the time.

*3m film. A combination of red and orange.

Mt3c- Damn you got some skills, very very nice! Finally someone has figured out how to make the climate control orange. Is the climate control and clock in flush with the radio? From the last time i remember, the ITR has more of a deep orangish look to it.

i tried, but couldn't get it perfect. the clock and radio are pretty close. the cluster, cruise, and climate control are brighter and look lighter then the radio.

3m electrocut translucent film. I used orange and red, but they come in a varity of other colors. If http://www.mmm.com is every up, do a search for it to find out who you can order it from. But note, they do come in big rolls and i don't think it would be very economical for one person to purchase. But crazy me, i plan on buying a roll in the future just because i've found some many uses for it. 3m products

Guage cluster is illuminated by amber bulbs, got them from local autozone.

Safest way to take out clock would be to use your fingers. I found it easiest to pull from the lower left corner.

If reasonably priced with well written instructions for the novice, i would say it'd be as good as RStor's S2k antenna kit

Nice post, but...You left a few things out. Like did you remove the purple lens from the clock? Or did you just place the film behind it? And where did you get this film from? An electronics store, hardware store? Seems like you are keeping certain things to yourself on purpose. If your gonna post it up, show some love...Share.
