car running rough under 2k. pls help
hey guys. my car was running good earlier today.. i went and got a car wash, and i degreased teh whole engine bay, sprayed it down... anyways, it drove fine on the way home. got in my car later and whenever im under 2000-2500 rpms it runs like crap. and when im above 3k it makes more power than usual (or it seems like). im trying to figure out what could have happened.. my timing belt could have slipped??? i let it warm up... it idled for about 30 mins, and it still ran crappy. help would be appreciated.
You could have done quite a few things:
1: You might have gotten water inside your distributor.
Fix: Replace your cap/rotor. Clean the inside of the distributor and let dry outside with the cap off.
2: You might have gotten water into your intake.
Fix: Just run your car. Might take a while for it all to be burnt off.
3: Water in your fuse box.
Fix: Open the fuse box. Check for water, and blown fuse's. Replace if needed.
4: Water on the plug wires or fould plugs.
Fix: Check and inspect your plug wire and the sparkplugs them selfs. If the plug tips are black and watery, replace.
Goodluck with everything
BTW: Next time you wash your engine bay, cover the intake, distributor, and battery.
