4pt Harnesses in a 91 crx
I was curious to where would be a good mounting area for now until I have the $$ to get a harness bar. Please do not say Harness bar, I know its best, but I am concentrating on tuning and putting the rear panels back in right now. Anyways, the whole back is gutted right now as im finishing up fresh trunk paint so now would be a good time to help me figure it out. Any help is appreciated, if you have any pics of yours mounted without a bar or cage, post a pic so I can see. Thanks in advance!!
hey guys I want to do something to look cool, it's ok if I might be killed doing it I know this is stupid but show me how to do it anyway.
Harness bar or cage or no.
Harness bar or cage or no.
Cool thanks for the input, didnt have to be a *** about it but thanks. Not trying to be cool, ive had harnesses in for a long *** time but they were mounted to the seat rails (have no idea why I did that ) - Other than Sparco, what other Harness Bars are out there? Im not caging the car cause I dont plan on doing any crazy racing where the car would flip, its a weekend car.

You need to keep the 3pt stock seat belt until you have a 4 point roll over protection, notice I did not say cage that is a whole other list of problems.
A 4pt harness is a terrible thing in an accident. Because there is no sub belt like a 5pt harness you will essentially slide forward in your seat and the lower belts will begin pushing upward on your rib cage, at this point you will crush your internal and run a severe risk of puncturing your lungs with your ribs. There is no safety! Get a 4 pt roll over protection from I/O Port or Kirk Racing and get yourself a 5pt harness and do it right.
That being said....have you ever driven with a harness on city streets? It is not advised. 1. If the harness is snugged properly you can not rotate your body to look for traffic 2. To adjust your HVAC you will have to have arms like Stretch Armstrong 3. If you get in an accident most people will not know how to remove you from the car should they need to.
It seems as though you are doing this for looks only. And I would advise against it. If this car is never used on the track or Auto-X leave it with stock belts. In fact we have people who drive there car to the track and have both the stock belts for street driving and the harness for when they get to the track.
As an instructor I will not enter a car that has 4pt harness. I'd rather have the stock seat belts. It is unsafe and I will not risk my life with a 4pt harness, Mrs Toad is hot and I love her I want to see her at the end of the day. They should be removed off the market.

Thanks for the input, the only real racing it will see is probably the drag strip here and there. You have a good point, what is the point in these harnesses if your not gonna use them for what they are for....I will have to find another stock seat belt connector for the seat belt. Most rest of the car will have good function, but the harnesses didnt feel right the way they were. I appreciate the input from both of you, I will probably go back to stock belts for safety. Thanks again!
