Valve lash adjustment questions
I've got just a few questions here about this. I know how to set each cylinder for TDC to adjust the valves for that cylinder, so that's not a problem. I also know the engine has to be completely cold, as in not run for 8 hours or so. My only question is what Honda means by "slight drag." I've used feeler gauges before, but it seems like every manufacturer has different ideas about it. I figured slight drag would be when you were inserting and removing the feeler gauge you would just barely be able to feel it drag. What are your guys' opinions on what "slight drag" should be?
I'm with you, At least that's how I've done it in the past. I'll loosen the screw off so there is no drag at all. Then slowly tighten the screw and move the feeler gauge until I feel a wee bit of friction or "slight drag". Tighten it up and recheck.
a way to check is to take a feeler gauge thats just over the high limit and try to insert it after you've set it with the other feeler gauge for slight drag. A feeler gauge that is 1 gauge thicker should not be able to be inserted.
