Default Pre H22a drop checklist( I searched and did my homework)Updated!!

alright guys ive ordered my h22a from hmotors and it should be here by the weekend. And to satisfy the warranty aggreement ive got the folllowing:

Distributor
Cap and Rotor
OEM Wires
Spark Plugs
Timing Belt(new) and parts from h23 to do manual belt tensioner conversion
Water Pump
Front and rear seals
valve cover gasket
Mobile 1
Honda MTF
Exedy oem clutch and pressure plate
6 pack of budlight
fuel filter
apexi ws2
02 sensor

now for my undecided items im not sure if i should get a new flywheel or not? would you recommend changing it, also i remember reading that the h22/h23 starter might not work with the jdm flywheel is that correct or does that effect more for aftermarket products?

would the h23 fuel rail fit the jdm h22? i understand that the jdm fuel rail needs to be changed but i couldnt remember if the h22 and h23 fuel rails were interchangable or not i know that most parts are.

If I had left anything out please please let me know. Thanks in advance

Ill post pics of the swap when it gets done.

stock up on more bud light , a six-pack isn't going to cut it. And do a valve adjustment.

Six pack is so he's not trashed and forgetting where he put all his parts and tools that ironically are probably in the empty cases of beer he would have drank.

I'd do the water pump maybe too while its all open.

Because the RHD people in JApan thought they would be better than us and swap the side of the engine bay where the fuel feed hose comes from.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by autoluder &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">why cant you use the jdm fuel rail?

MSD doesn't make an H-series distributor as far as I know, only one for the B-series.

Get a lightweight flywheel like Fidanza. It makes a huge difference in how responsive the engine is. USDM starters and flywheels are different from JDM. People had problems because of this when they used Jun flywheels.

so this is indeed a fact then? a couple of post up said that it was only a myth.
Thats one yes and one no = confusion.

but for the suggestion on the fidanza flywheel. Apparently the flywheel may have to wait due to lack of funds. I need my car asap to get to work. I know that i should do it all while everything is out, but that gives me an excuse for a weekend project.

I would replace the thermostat as a cheap insurance. I would also drop the oil pan and inspect the oil screen and look for any potential problems. Then replace pan gasket as well while you're at it. It's also a good idea to do the valve adjustment while the valve cover if off. Optionally, you could also replace the trans case oil seals for the drive shafts if they are worn or damaged.

Well I just talked to a friend that has swapped three jdm h22s and has never had a issue with the jdm fuel rail.

Ive done quite a few jdm h22 swaps. There isnt really a problem with the rail unless you want to cut and extend the fuel line to reach the right side of the engine, or have a custom one made...In his case, he can use the H23 fuel rail with no problems.

Also use your H23 distributor.

The motor looks clean. There is no way to really tell either. Open up the valve cover and take a look at the insides. Take pics and post.

As for the JDM FUEL rail. If you want to keep it on there, than you need to fab the fuel line. Extra work that you really dont need to do. Swapping the fuel rail is awhole lot easier.

Guessing by the stamp next to the engine code you got your motor from hmotors. I also noticed in your pics that you have the downpipe for the exhaust mani shrinkwrapped separately. Which kit did you get? the whole change over kit or the one without the mounts/shift cables/axles?

I ask this because i got the one without the mounts/axles and I didn't get a downpipe with mine...

asaik, unless you were there at the time when they removed the engine, assuming stock, unaltered odo and motor, there's no precise way of finding out the exact miles. your guess is as good as mine. if you got it from a reputable source, chances are, the miles are low. for hondas anyway. good luck w/ it.

they way i figure it is this. take the heat shield off and get the manufacture year. add a year to that for the year car it came in. take the USA average of 12,000 miles a year X age of motor and you have a rough equivalent to base your storytelling to your friends. The japanese probably have a lower average miles per year but I figure better to overshoot.

yea i got it from hmotors, dude said since it was going into a 92 si he would throw the downpipe in there. i also got the motor without the mounts, cables and axles.

but yea thanks guys for the replies i was just curious about the miles its not that big of deal. i think hmotors says their motors average 35000 still pretty good my current h23a1 rolled over 151k like 3 months when it was working
