B20 Vtec or GSR JRSC need help
Alright well basically I'm trying to get some power for my DD and i have around 1400 to spend. Either i buy a used JRSC or build a b20v because i already have the 84mm RSmachine itr pistons and i can use the oil pump/waterpump/timingbelt on my GSR to do the build. To build both mildly and tune would be around 1400 so i was wondering which is better? I like the boost feeling but its kind of hard finding a used GSR JRSC for 1200. I mean i can wait until 1 pops up and buy it but which would be better for my DD. I know if i build the b20v i would get 200whp+ and if i get the JRSC i would get around 220whp+ boosting like 8psi which i dont think i would boost over for a stock DD. So has anyone ever had these options and regret what they chose. I really like the boost feeling so i might go with JRSC but i just want some opinions.
i had a buddy that made 225 with a stock gsr and a jrsc on hondata s200 which is not bad for a daily and its very reliable had for 2 years now and counting.
Well i dont wanna boost with turbo simply because its my DD and i drive long distances sometimes. I know a JRSC will be more reliable and more gas efficient.

let me halp u out a little 1400 is not enough money 2 do anyhting but some bolt on mods. Either way u go it will cost more than 1400. dont forget u have 2 get a good tune on both options and i mean a chipped ecu or something and not a cheap hack. A SC gsr is better if intercooled and that $1000 alone, and a used SC will cost about 1200 and that leaves u with no money 4 anything else. ur best option is 2 save up a little more money then weigh out ur options. But her is some jrsc for sale

Yeah i'm gonna buy the 1 on ebay i was already looking at it. I was just asking the seller some questions before the buy, that'll leave me with like 300-400 bucks and i already have the p28 so i need to buy the wire harness which is like 100 bucks leaving me with just say 300 then i can get a tune, How much is hondata s100?
just use a free program like chrome and find some1 to tune ur ecu. do u have a 2.5 header and kamikaze is the best for the jackson. also u need a high fuel pump, 2.5 exhaust. and dont use that fmu
here is a site for the header

Oh thanks for the tip, I thought the fmu was good? I was either gonna tune on chrome or hondatas100 also i have dsm 360 injectors and the 440 1's thats gonna come with the kit so i dont know which to use. I also already have a walbro 255 fuel pump. I'm only going to boost 8psi so would a cooler system be necessary? Also if it is where can i buy like a water injection or oil cooled system. Right now i have JDM ITR headers with heat shield, 2.5 cat, 2.5 pipe, apexi N1 exhaust. I'm using the stock airbox with a K&n filter because i like the stock look so cops cant say nothing.
the cooler system is the best option for the sc but i know it cost alot but here is the site for the cooler

go with the jrsc cause with the intercooler mod u can push out like 275whp with a better pulley on the sc and no ac or ps. u can do that with a b20vtec or a N/A gsr. dont use the fmu search and u will find out why and use the 440 rc.
200 bucks not bad for the water inject kit, i'll probly get that in the future maybe after the dyno if my supercharger is really really hot i'll probly have to buy it. Oh, i thought the fmu was just another electronic program i can use with my chipped ecu + tuning. Didn't know i had to choose 1 over the other, of course i would choose ecu tuning.
u wont get many pulls on the dyno cause the jrsc gets heat soaked real quick the best thing 4 u 2 do is check out the forum and read about 10 pages

Not necessarily true at all...JRSC's are not intercooled and when driving long distances will have a tendency to heat soak a lot more than a turbo setup which has access to ambient air cooling via the intercooler. Its your pick, but dont start thinking that the JRSC is any safer than a well maintained turbo setup.

Im with this guy. $1400 is just hard to do a "proper" build with ]. Unless you have mad "hook-ups" or are really patience and I mean REAL patient MAYBE you can piece something together for $1400. I've seen decent condition JRSC's go for $800, but I live in the Bay Area where "Craigslist makes the world go round".
