Default Transmision Problem

Ok im new to the forum im usally use EPHATCH.com but i wanna get more suggestions well here is the problem....ok I can drive about a car length in first then it Makes a clunk and the car jerks ...My Buddy thinks its the main drive shaft...the driver side axle is ok the right one it brand new (checked both anyway) I'm trying to steer away from a new tranny ...A guy in my team rebuilds transmissions and said if i get the part he can fix it...second question is whats a good place to price tranny parts......worse comes to worse my boy works at Honda and can get the parts at cost i just wanna see what all ur guy's input is.

first thing i'd check is your synchros teeth and the teeth of all gears. If it looks like someone filed them down or you are missing teeth or anything around that... you know what needs to be replaced. If it was an axle problem you wouldn't be able to drive anywhere due to the fact that power is exerted to the path of least resistance. So if one axle was torn or snapped then you'd be spinning that axle not both.
