Default Need Help! Exhaust with "Best Exhaust Note"??

Since the exhaust topic from the "which one makes the most power" has been beaten to death several times, and is quite pointless, since we all know the power differences are practically the same, I would like to focus all the attention on SOUND only!

Please give me your honest opinion's based on the following criteria(s)...

1.) System will consists of 4-1 header (2.5 in), high-flow cat, and B-pipe/muffler combo (TBD by this poll).

2.) Can NOT "drone" when crusing around town!

3.) It can screem and be loud when pushing in high-cam mode, as long as it is relatively quite when cruising around. However, "quiteness" when cruisin around will take precedence.

4.) Must receive comments like "...bro, that exhaust sounds sooo dope!"...or someting to that effect ... on the regular bases.

5.) Bolt-up application preferred.

6.) Money is no object!

...I've considered the Mugen Twin Loop...and DC's version of the twin loop as a cheaper alternative... but from what I heared they tend to be fairly quiet, even when pushing hard...but maybe that was with stock header/cat?

Thanks everyone!

mugen is great for around town quietness
since j00 is concerned about sounding "good" then the comptech maybe the one for j00. I think Flux has it on his car.

I should make a video clip of my mugen exhaust setup. Cause I don't think it is that quiet. But it does sound awesome, I get compliments about it all the time.

Between my mugen exhaust and comptech Icebox, I'm always getting compliments. I can't wait to install the spoon header, test pipe, and type-one b-pipe because not only should i feel the difference, but i'm also excited to hear the sound.

I'd say go for SMS or Mugen

Mugen is the piece you want. I havent done the header yet, but just the exhaust is great sounding.

I have a Comptech cat-back and it sounds beautiful. At low RPM's it is a low tone that sets of alarms in my parking garage. In VTEC it screams and sounds magnificent.

As far as receiving comments like "...bro, that exhaust sounds sooo dope!" - I have had a few S2000 and a NSX roll down their windows and tell me how good my R sounds...

i love my mugen. sometimes it is real soft. but on other days it is loud. guess it has something to do with the heat.

another thing to look at would be something wth a silencer. this way it is nice sounding and when you want to open it up just take it out.

Tonight if I get a chance in between installing my new JDM header and SMSP cat, I will make and post a couple video clips of 2 SI's with Mugen Twinloop's making a pass in VTEC and not. One has a Comptech Icebox, the other a AEM CAI.

if you say "please"

How much will a JDM header 2.5 collector and high flow cat do to your existing sound I mean does it make it louder or just better sound. I run a Apexi N1 I love it but when it is realy hot it can be anoying but I love the tone in vtec and the cruising tone but slow stop light to stoplight driving bugs sometimes.

alright... here is the mugen twin loop recording i did about 30 minutes ago. the comptech icebox is barely noticeable even in vtec, so you're mostly hearing the exhaust here. enjoy

BTW: that's Bishop's SI with his newly aquired SSR Competitions
