Default m22 vs m24x ?

I hear that they recommend m22's with ~11:1 and m24x with ~12.5:1

do you think you'll lose power with m24x's on 11:1 compared to m22s?

Thanks!

my old poor mans type r setup (rip) was way overcammed with m24s.. the compression was about 11/5/1 and it didnt make near the power the m22xs did.. i called rocket and they said i could send back the m24s and gave me m22xs! great customer service on rockets part! but id go with m22x with that setup.. when they say use it with "such and such" compression then you better go with what they say.. hope that helps! good luck man!

cam selection is more on engine size, desired rpm etc etc than actual compression... but following guidelines is sometimes good when you dont know much

M22 for a 1.8L. Could get away with M24 if your engine can support high RPM and you have gearing to match it.

Capacity/setup is the key as others have posted already for the correct cam selection.

besides compression , what displacement is your engine ? .. i ve tried both the m22x and the m24x on the same 2.0L motor but its not a good comparison if ur question is regarding a 1.8 L

Just use a GSR head. It'll work better than the B16. If RI has 93 set your CR a little under 12:1. M22X will work well. If you have quality parts (and selection) and a good tuner, M22XX would be nice. XX is for a hot setup moreso than a mild street setup.

M22x.

Most friendly of the "hot" cams from RM but still has alot of "*****."

Cam choice is based on "port loading". When people make there engines bigger like going from 1.8 to 2.0 they increase the port loading because the ports/intake manifold runners are seldom made larger. This increase in port loading and allows you to run more duration.

This is why it is absurd to make a general statement such as 2.2 liter B motors has to have Pro 3's and Mustang 5.0 should have Pro 8's.

Most people overcam there smaller cc engines or dont get there cyl heads ported enough to support the cams and then complain the cam/profile is crap and xxxx brand is better and all it means is they dont understand how to design the correct combination of parts to make the power they want.
