Default TPS Positioning

car: 91 crx si
motor: stock jdm b18c siR-g

This is how my TPS sits right now on my intake manifold (stock dual runner):

TPS plug will NOT connect to sensor because heater core inlet is in the way. Even if I remove the fuel line bracket, the top heater core inlet will still be in the way, plus I have to fit a hose there.

Can I just flip the TPS 180 degrees so it's pointing up and not down? The bolts will still line up, and I figure since TPS works off electric current, it just might work but not exactly sure.

TIA

You can't turn it upside down and expect it to work..
it is omni-directional..

It would be my guess you have the wrong rear
bracket or mount...

I'm using a DA bracket, which I thought was the only one I could use. Most people scrap the dual runner IM and just get the skunk 2 IM...that's what I should have done but oh well.

looks like I'll have to bust out the dremel.

ya you cant flip it if you take it off youll see why. it looks like you can make it fit though. just bend the stuff to make room.

It connects to a pronged part on the TB shaft. Assuming its like d16 tps's (it should be), it can be flipped 180*. Just make sure you have a good seal behind it. THe gaskets tend to break upon removal, and can create a vacuum leak if left unsealed.

Sorry to jump in on this thread, but do you think a missing gasket would cause a code 7 for the TPS? I have this code and I've tried calibrating it but I still have the code.

yes it will start and run, but real crappy. It looks like your fuel line is unbolted, remove it and cut the bracket off(the one the bolt goes in) put it back on and bend it with your hands to the side, it bends real easy, get a new hose for your heater that has an immediate 90 degree bend and you should be able to bend it slightly as well.

Yes it can be done, but it is not as simple as rotating the Tps.
For it to work, you have to also rotate the shaft 180 degrees.
Remove the two screws holding the butterfly in place, remove the butterfly. remove the 11mm nut on the shaft and remove the pulley and spring. slide the shaft out and turn the spring inside the Tps well 180 degrees. reinsert the shaft , make sure the spring hooks the same as it was before on the shaft. Reinstall the spring/washer and nut back on the shaft. Reinsert the butterly in the same way you took it off. Now the two screws holding the butterfly are going in from the front of the TB. tighten everything reinstall the TPS 180 degrees and reset it.

You CAN turn the TPS around
But first check if the IACV will be in the way of the connector when the TPS is rotated 180 degrees.

Now for the real part. You cannot simply unbolt the TPS and bolt it the other way around. You can however disassemble the Throttle body and make it work.
1. take the TB off the intake.
2. remove the tps and the 12mm nut on the other side of the shaft.

Note that under the TPS, there is a U shaped thing (sorry can't figure out the term) that the TPS slides into. It sort of points to the air-filter. Your goal is to make it point in the opposite direction, that is approximately to the number 1 cylinder.

3. remove all the spacers and springs and keep them in order so you can reassemble them later.
4. unscrew the 2 screws that hold the throttle plate. These are supposed to never be unscrewed so you'll have to use some force, but trust me the can be unscrewed.
5. remove the throttle plate, rotate the shaft 180deg and put the plate back in.

assemble in the reverse order keeping in mind that now the throttle plate screw heads will stay on the inside of the TB where as stock, they were on the outside

p.s. It's very easy to say something is IMPOSSIBLE

Good Luck!

edit: don't forget to set your TPS at 0.48-0.50V at idle.
