speedometer is off
Hello
I have a 92 hatch powered by a 2.3L (F23A1) motor and trans from a 99 accord.. My problem is that my speedometer is off. It reads about 7-10 mph faster then I am going… any one out their have any ideas on how to fix it… I was told to try the civic speed sensor or something called an Electronic Ratio Adapter

I think ti's because of your tire size actually.
What kind of tires do you have on it?
Typical '92-'95 Civics use 185/65R-14 while circum '01 (where the F23A1 is from) accords use I BELIEVE a 195/65R-15. That's over an inch and a half in diameter difference which sounds just about right to throw your speedometer off that much. You have to remember that the F23A1's VSS is configured for the cirucm '00/'01 accord EX tire size.
So what tire size is on your civic.

Well the rim size isn't as important as the actual tire size. 17" rims can have the same total diameter as 15" rims depending on the sidewall aspect ratio and the width.
I can tell you for a fact though that 1.5" or 2" or so total diameter difference will kick you a good 6 or 8mph or so at ~60mph. So it wouldn't be far fetched if he's throwing a 10mph off reading at 70-75mph.

You aren't going to be able to fix that big of a difference with wheels and tires. They won't fit and they will look bad. Even with factory tires these cars do not have accurate speedometers. I have both a 94 EJ1 & a 99 EJ8. 1st I tried 205-50-15's. Still read at least 3-4 mph fast at 70. Now I'm running 195-55-15's. It still reads fast but at least it's closer. Now it's only 2-3 mph off.

Yeah, the stock tiresize is roasting you - you need to get different tires.
185/60R-14 on an F23 will throw it off exactly like you're experiencing.
195/70R-14 should = about the same as 195/65R-15's (only .14" off total diameter).
About .5mph @ 60 - too low of a difference to know if it would work.
You put those tires on your rims and you should be fine.
You can live knowing it's ~7mph fast @ 60mph, or getting a 15" rim would allow you to use the stock accord tire size, or you can get tires with a higher aspect ratio (70's) to make 'em about the same total diameter as the accord's. That part is up to you. Hope this helped some.

It should, but I didn't know you could use a D series VSS in a F series transmission.
