Default gsr turbo suggestions?

Ok...I got a gsr, dc headers, type r head, aebs intake manifold, exhaust, and everything else is stock pretty much with 150,000 miles. Stock block and all. I am starting to buy the parts for turbo setup all before summer and do all the work in the summer.

I am wanting some suggestions for cheap setups. I am not looking for killer whp maybe 250 or 300. I am limited to 1-2k dollars....

Any suggestions would be great

thanks

sell your "headers", as you won't need it

piece together a used kit...to do this, you need to have knowledge

i suggest you take a trip over to the FI forum and educate yourself before you proceed

Have you done a compression and leak down test to make sure your motor is in good health? Are you up to date on all maintenance?

Just making sure because of the mileage.

As Graf-fiti mentioned do some research in the FI section, there is a lot to learn.

And IMO, a $2k budget is not alot. Sure you may be able to do it. But do not forget to factor in tunning, both software and labor. Also, don't forget the smaller things when piecing together a kit; oil lines, silicone couplers, guages (not mandatory, but highly recommended), etc.

Youve made quite a few threads about wanting to boost. I have about 152k miles on my gsr right now, but I dont plan to boost it (im sure itll take it for awhile though). Do some researching. You need a bigger budget too. $2k isnt much if you want quality parts. Do you want to keep p/s and a/c?

Your budget is rather low for a "good" turbo setup. I suggest saving a little more up because building a budget turbo setup is just inviting problems. Come over to the FI Forum and we'll give you a hand

make a word document of the total parts you will need and calculate if you have enough. i wouldnt recommend going cheap on parts for a turbo....
