Default Honda Mugen Type-RR Experimental Spec

Honda Mugen Type-RR Experimental Spec

One of the other concepts that graced Mugen's stand in Japan at the recent Tokyo Auto Salon was the Civic Type-RR, which in addition to the obvious replacement of the entire front clip with carbon fiber pieces, also includes a K20A engine that's been bored out to 2157 cc to create a more tractable powerband and an even higher redline. 260 horsepower and 173 lb.-ft. of torque is sent to the six-speed gearbox and down to the front wheels through a LSD. Naturally, the brakes and suspension have been upgraded to handle the extra grunt, while carbon fiber was used inside to beef up the structure. Mugen also added a system dubbed I-TCMS, or Intellligent Tire Condition Monitoring, which keeps tabs on the tire's air pressure and temperature. The dash mounted instrument cluster might be a big impediment to forward visibility, but we're sure it's nothing compared to the price.

This thing is awsome. Much better than the one we got here. Plus it not only a looker but added power to match the looks. The interior is awsome too. From what I see from the pictures redline looks to be about 8500, is that correct.

Love it. 260 NA Horse works for me.

That's pretty amazing. 260HP out of a 2.2L 4cyl. WITHOUT turbo is amazing. Honda Engineering FTW!

Other than that insanely bulgy tach cluster.....the car looks alright.

You're off about 10k on the price tag unfortunately.

I prefer the regular type-r headlights. These on the pictures reminds me the ones being sold on ebay, and the look of 2008's WRX.

Isn't there a stroker kit for the Si that increases displacement to 2.3L??

Something from Brian Crower right?

FYI The rotor is in fact not on backwards but in correct position. You would know that if you had a big brake kit

well, i just bought stoptech slotted rotors (see here - click), i only pulled one out of the box just to look at it, so i definitely was wrong, i'll admit that, but the one i held had an "L" on for "left" obviously... and I never really pictured what I was thinking (I haven't got the chance to put them on yet so this is why I made this mistake)

some people care about more than the aesthetics.
