Have a h22 swap and would like some advice on what motor oil I should use initially for the first startup and then a few hundred miles down the road?
Thanks
Thanks
Well, if it is used (out of a crate from japan - you did say swap) run some conventional for 500 miles then use whatever you want. If it is a FRESH engine- just built - Follow the shops reccommendations(some places give you a warranty - don't void it) But they will usually tell you not to use anything but conventional oil for the first few oil changes(500, 1500) then use what you want.

The head doesent need a break in, its the cylinder wall to piston ring contact surface that "breaks in". But if you didnt rering/hone it then it should be broken in. Try some non syn 5w30 to be on the safe side.
