Default procharger supercharger placment ideas

so my friend had a procharger supercharger on his 350z but he got hit and totaled the car, so we removed the procharger and i have always wanted to boost my engine. im pretty good at fabricating metal brackets, welding, and all that stuff. the procharger will fit where my A/C pump used to be, the piping will be a squeeze, but it will fit. and i know i can find a belt at napa for it. my question for you guys is has anyone else ever put a centrifugal supercharger on a prelude? or put one where the A/C was. and if you guys have any other ideas where i could place it in the engine bay to run off the existing belt/s id like to hear some ideas. btw- i do not want to remove my pwr steering to put it there.

intercooler- long front mount? (or) DSM corner mount on pass side front?

if i can get it the procharger mounted and the belt on ill post some pics

thanks guys

Love the idea....I was the guy emailing/calling VorTech every month back in 2001 hoping they'd make a worthwhile centri kit for us. They never did.....****!
Keep us posted.....sounds like a great project.

this is what i would do....

i'd fab up a bracket to mount the alternator where the AC is. then fab up another bracket and put the charger where the power steering is.

Im not sure that the procharger will work on your car.

Hondas of that year spin Counter Clock Wise. and the Procharger is designed to spin Clock Wise.

So it would actually spin the wrong way and probably wouldnt create any boost.

If you placed it facing the opposite direction, pulley towards the motor, compressor towards the drivers side fender it might spin the correct direction.

Don't they run something on the integras with a jackshaft, so the charger is actually on the passenger side?

or buy an even better one from Evolution... they make a billet peice. complete with a spacer so you can run a d-series alternator if you want to. Really nice looking and functioning peice. the explicitspeed one is kinda homemade looking...

hey thanks guys, i didn't know that alternator bracket was even made! I'll prob buy one of these, relocate the alt down there and mount the procharger between the alt and power steering pump this will make the intake piping inlet and outlet MUCH easier to pipe through the car. and yea i have seen the integra kit that mounts the procharger where the battery goes, its possible to do but i would have to fab a very balanced and straight 3 foot shaft across the engine bay...something i would like to avoid lol. and all engines spin the same direction, clockwise as far as i know, but i could be wrong. both my lude and his 350z spin the same direction. i'm open for any other mounting ideas?

Thanks again

one more thing? are DSM stock intercooler's any good, i hear they can be crappy for turbo's but since im supercharging would it be enough intake cooling? i can get one free from my buddy in about a week, cuz he is installing a front mount.

h22's spin counterclockwise... might want to look into that issue a bit further before you get too far.

The K series engine, for one, spins clockwise.

Wow... would this work for turbo cars wanting to keep ac with big manifolds? This is great news. Maybe its time to switch from this log type lol

a long long while back someone fabricated the procharger kit onto an integra Type R. Don't remember where i read about it tho.

i just dont know where you would put it in order to run it off existing belts without removing components like power steering. could be possible to put it in place of the power steering pump and use the existing studs to create your mount. Would likely need to drop the alternator to eleviate space problems.

heres another example:

this is for a civic. if you could setup a way to run it on the passenger side of the car, i think that would be a little easier if you want to keep power steering. This way you could relocate the battery, run your intake piping from there and maybe fabricate a rod that goes across the header kinda like the civic vortech chargers. I honestly dont see it happening without a few things either being removed or relocated.

^^ at least that way would get it to spin the right direction.

The point of posting that alt mount was to show something that goes in place of the AC, haha. They do offer several other mounts for different locations though.
