What does the heat have to do with a valve adjustment???
you'll need a set of feeler gauges so you can use both the high (actually, just over the high) and low limit. You want the low to go in but you dont want the high to go in.
You'll also need a wrench to loosen and tighten the lock nut while using a small screw driver to adjust the lash.
What I usually do is take a socket and ratchet and just break the lock nuts loose as I go to adjust that valve, then I use the wrench and screw driver and snug the nut back down with the wrench and then torque it with a torque wrench and socket after the adjustment is complete. When doing the adjustment, loosen the lock nut then with one hand slide the low limit feeler gauge in and start adjusting the lash by turning the screw driver with the other. When finished, remove the feeler gauge and while holding the screw driver still with one hand snug the lock nut down with the wrench. Then torque it to spec and recheck the gap with both the high and low limit feelers, again the low should go in and the high should not. If need be, readjust again.
You'll also need a 19mm socket and ratchet to turn the engine for each cylinders TDC.
If you look in the FAQ, there is links on how to do all this as well as the specs.
