Default Looking for a suitable clutch for b16a and b20VTEC

Among many things the clutch is going on my 88 CRX with a b16a and YS1 cable trans. Since the rings are damamged on this motor I plan on doing a b20/vtec coversion. What would be a good clutch to use for such an application? It's a street car, but i want something that'll grip.

As far as i know the drivetrain has about 115,000 km (70,000 mi) on it. Seems a little early for the clutch to go, could it be something else that's causing it to slip like a bitch?

You only need a clutch that will hold the power your engine puts out. This is all you need: http://www.exedyusa.com/oe/08804

I got the stage two and it's entirely overkill on my b16. Even if you go b20/vtec this clutch will hold fine.

Isn't that the wrong clutch? He said YS1 tranny, and that's a 90-91 clutch?

I've gotten myself into a mess here but I thought the 92-93 YS1 trannies had a different sized spline..

You guys have got me worried here. I have a JDM short ratio S1 tranny, I was under the impression I would need the 90-91 Integra Clutch. Is this correct?

Well thanks for the resposnses, that points me in the right direction. So is my YS1 out of a GSR 92-93 or what is it out of. As far as I know it's JDM and ir really close ratio. And id there a chance i don't need to replace the stock clutch just yet?

Do I have to resurface the flywheel when I change the clutch or would it make sense to buy a lightened flywheel instead?

A USDM YS1 tranny can be either a GSR transmission or the far more likely candidate - an LS transmission. The only way to tell the difference would be checking the gear ratios by hand I believe, although I could be wrong on this.

A JDM YS1 I have no clues on. Search around?

And since you're pulling the longblock anyway, you can find out whether or not you need a new clutch when everything comes apart.
