Scratched cylinder wall...
How bad is too bad of a scratch in a cylinder wall to consider it too bad of a catch to not worry about? I mean i know it's always something to worry about, but damn I am broke and need a ride. I can feel the scratch, but my fingernail does not catch per-say... I think i did this when I blew my head gasket and the piston expanded when it overheated. I guess my question is can I put my head back on and drive this piece? Get back ASAP... Thanks
Give us some details on the block...what bore? what engine??
Generally a small overbore will solve the problem. If you're on the stock bore right now, a .020 overbore will work fine and you can still find OEM parts to fit.

take pics... it's hard to judge by a description... chances are you'll be ok...
Did you cause the scratch when doing the HG or it was just there?
If it was just there then frankly I wouldn't worry about it... it was running before right?
IF it's something you caused while it was apart then it could be bad or not...
If your concerned more with money than time.. I'd say put it back together and see how it runs... do a leakdown test and a compression test... if it's F"d then take it back apart and repair it... if it's not at all or not too bad... drive on.
Is this an otherwise stock/stockish B16 or is it turbo or what?

In that case I'd def. be a bit more concerned about the scratch...
Although IMO worst case is you put it back together and it burns some oil... which of course could lead to detonation...
It's a tough call man... it's always better to be safe than sorry...
But I'd probobly put it back together turn back the boost and see how it runs, check the plugs after a little bit... if the plug for that cylinder is soaked then you've got your answer...
if it's a small scratch chances are it'll just get worked out in normal running of the engine.
Best of Luck.
