Newbie: How to change Battery??? HELP
I just bought my first bike, a 2002 Honda 600CBR F4i. I live where theres alot of snow and gets really cold. For storing I would need to take out my Battery and charge it over the winter, but I don't know how to take out my Battery. I know I should take out wires from Positive/Negative just like for cars, but for some reason I could not pull it out. Is it bolted on somewhere or screwed on something??? Sorry this might be a stupid question to ask, but as a newbie, please help....before I loose the life of that battery :cry
Why do you want to take the battery out of the bike? Why not just attach a battery tender while it's still in the bike? That's what most of us do.
I use a Battery Tender, and it comes with a connector which you attach under your battery cables on the bike. This allows you to plug in the tender when you aren't using the bike and can keep the battery easily charged without removing stuff. Just plug it in. Here's a picture:
The cable with the 2 circular connectors is the piece which you mount on your battery, and when riding you just stuff the cable out of the way. Very simple to use

He may not have a garage.
I don't have an F4i, so I can't really help though. Is the battery held in by a plastic clip(s) or anything? I know there are a few people on here that have F4i's.

Its under the seat. Take the ECU off (its a rubber cable/tie down thing) and the battery is under a cover. No bolts holding it in. Lift the cover off (dont lose the clips) and pull. Might help if you have someone with small hands around to help you.

Yep. One thing I hated about my F4i and love about my 748.
I got a battery tender for Christmas last year, and LOVE IT! Great investment.

wall outlet.
wall outlet.
Thanks, Wow that battery tender seems like a really good idea, I never heard of it...How much would they cost??? I might just look around for it. But for the future, I would also want to know how to take out the battery.
The battery on my F4i is held on a plastic thing which it kinda hugs the whole battery. Does this mean I have to take the whole plastic thing out too? I really appreciate all the help. Thanks!

No - there's 2 little plastic plugs at the rear of the cover - take those out, and then you take the top of the cover off. Disconnect battery and pull it out.

I got as far as opening up the top(fliping cover), and disconnecting Positive/Negative from the battery. Now for some reason, I could not lift up the battery it self, it seems like something is holding it down together with the plastic cover. Is there anything else I should unscrew or do I just have to pull the battery up harder? Thanks.
