Crazy h22a timing issue, wtf is going on?
Okay heres what I got going on here. I have a JDM h22a swaped cb7, after a **** load of trouble shooting I came up with nothing. The motor is out of timing, back firing through the intake/exhaust, its not drivable, rpms crack above 2000. But still idles fine. All the timing marks line up perfect, so i was geussing bent valves. Did a leak down test and found out leakage through the intake and exhaust. so I take the head off and what do I see? Valves look in perfect condition.
I am basically stuck here I dont know what else could be causing the timing problem. If anyone can help me I apreciate it thanks in advance!

You forgot that its throwing a solid cel and keeps giving some off the wall code. And it doesnt have a cat its a jdm h22 top half with a custom bottom. As much crap as we have done to it i wish that was it. lol
So how exactly are you checking the timing? Do you have balance shafts hooked up? Is the ignition timing good?
yea we checked the dizzy. And both cam gears lined up. im not sure on the balance shafts, we bought the car swapped so were going through fixing everything that was wrong. Is there anything else to check were still kinda new at this. The other dude has a video somewere hopefully he will post it.
check the window on the block to see if the flywheel(crank) is lined up with cam gears and make sure everything is TDC best bet is to get a helms or service manual

Checking the dizzy means nothing. You need to use a timing light with the marks on the flywheel to check ignition timing.
You also don't just check just the cam gears for the cam timing. Even if the gears line up you have to line also line them up with the flywheel marks.
It doesn't sound like you guys know a whole lot about what you're doing, so I would say look in the Prelude FAQs at some of the engine tech related threads and check out some of the threads on timing.

Yea we have a helms. I put a fidanza 8lb flywheel in the car cause the h22 tranny was shot so while we replaced the tranny we put in the flywheel but i never noticed any marks on it for tdc. I looked all around the flywheel but nothing. and the car did the same thing before we swapped the tranny. We for a while were lead to belive the other owner messed the motor up because he ran a p06 in the car. when we replaced it with a p13 the idle smothed out but just dies when you rev it. Ill check the faq's some more and recheck the flywheel again.

get a timing gun and check the timing through the hole.. you can't see it without the timing gun unless u crank it to TDC.
any cel code?
any cel code?
I'll try and get a timing gun check the timing through there.
There is also a problem checking the CEl's
We couldnt find the code jumper and what we thought was the code jumper ended up giving us 15 long blinks, and to my knowledge there is no code 150.

there isn't. you are getting more than one code.

have someone else look at the flashes. As far as ignition timing sounds more then just that. When I got mine swapped my ignition timing was retarded to the max. It started and ran just had NO power and sounded like poop. You could hear the motor was off. I simply adjusted it by hand that night to get it sounding right then hit it with a timing light when i got one. Its still running so...lol I have the worst luck with timing lights i cant ever look at the angle right.
If you're not getting compression, and the valves are "fine" then you have a cam timing problem. Just because the gear line up doesn't mean that the crank is at tdc then.
Also, valves can be bent and not "look" bent. Straighten the timing situation out for sure, and if you still get no compression, you either have a leaky HG, a crack somewhere, or bent valves.
