3k rev limiter
ok, so my car is a 91 si hatch. it has never had a problem with a rev limiter before today. I woke up, started my car like always, and let it warm up, then drove to school. but i quickly found out that i could not get the tach above 3k rpms. so now my top speed is capped at ~60mph because thats 3k rpms in 5th. has anyone had this problem with their car?
code 9; cylinder sensor.. im pretty sure that code means i need a new dizzy, but I dont have $300 right now.. and its been throwing that code since i got the car, and only recently been rev limiting..

Before you go off half cocked deciding that you need a new distributor you should take the old one apart and check the connections within the distributor AFTER checking the wiring in the car. It is quite possible a wire has deteriorated over the years from the heat and cold or otherwise weather conditions and strain.
You might well not need a new dizzy. Worst case you will, but don't go jumping to conclusions.

okay... im not sure i like the sound of tearing it apart to check wiring.. (this is my only car)
but i just went out to my car between classes, and cranked it up to see if it was still rev limiting, and its not. i don't get it.. this morning it did, and now it doesn't...
edit: and now its throwing a code 4 as well as the 9 it was throwing.

You need to tear your distributor apart, check the rotor and everything else but my guess would be your distributor is about to take a **** on you.
Is the tach jumpy at all?
You could try disassembling, cleaning, and replacing components. Basically just refurb the thing yourself. Plus with core fees at Advanced Auto you should be able to get a good distributor for about $150.

yeah just take the dizzy off and pull the cap off.. pull the rotor off.. then that black plastic cover under the rotor. from there you can see the coil and igniter and the other two mechanisms down in there.. first has 4 triggers which fire the injectors, then below that is another with many teeth.. just make sure they aren't all dirty with **** causing bad readings and also chekc all the wires are in good shape and not loose at any connectors/screws. and don't be scared to pull this thing apart... nothings going to fall out of place when you open it, its all held together with screws
but like justanotherrex said, if that don't fix it, you can get one for relatively cheap from parts stores, or if your lucky find one at a junkyard from an si, or an hf crx
