well you could put your seat belt on and not get killed if you get in an accident or you could use this thing call black tape.

try disconnecting your negative battery cable for a few minutes and see if that helps. if not you probably have something going on with the airbags. if you want to drive sans seatbelt, underneath your drivers seat there is a plug-disconnect it and it will stay out regardless of whether or not you have a seatbelt on.

I just did this..
The entire process is outlined in section 23 of the helms manual. To do this you need to short the MES connector, which is the yellow connector that clips to the front of the interior fuseblock. Pull it out and short it with a service connector/paperclip and then it goes something like this...

-Ignition off: Short MES connector
-Ignition on: SRS comes on and then goes out. within 4 seconds open connector (remove short)
-SRS light comes on. Within 4 seconds short connector.
-SRS light goes out. Within 4 seconds open connector (remove short).
-SRS light blinks twice and goes off indication sysytem has been reset.

Well you can always take the cluster out and take the bulb off the SRS.

If it just randomly came on, then you should take it to the dealer and get it fixed. All SRS systems have lifetime warranties.

yeah you have to clear it this way (below).. but I'd get the system checked out since you want them to work in case of an accident... sometimes when you leave your door open (dome lights on) when installing something and drain the battery down too low the SRS light comes on.. its happened to me and some friends a few times before when we forgot to turn off the dome light...

anyway why would you not want to wear a seatbelt? it can save your life in the event of an accident... when I was 17 yrs old I got into a pretty bad accident .. I would NOT be here posting if I hadn't buckled up that day!!!.. think about it.. I always buckle up even if I'm just backing one of the cars out of the driveway (a car can hit me backing out) so that I can have another in the garage centered so that I have more room to work on it w/ all the wheels off or something...

sackdz.........do you happen to know if the method outlined in the Helms manual disengages the air bag itself, or does it just do away with the light? If I was to put my factory wheel back on after doing the procedure you detailed, would my airbag still work or would I have to do something to reinstate it with the ECU??

Also, do you know if the steps you described are good for the 92-95 Civics as well?

Dude the easiest way is just remove the bulb for which icon you want to take out and then when you feel like you need it back then just plug the bulb back in and your all set! It was fuse or bulb not sure haven't remove my cluster in a long while. But its that black ****. Just look for it you will see it and where its located at for each icon.
