Default idle problems...

Hey guys, i got a 95 cx with a gsr swap. I just replaced the intake manifold gasket on my car. While doing the gasket swap, my friend (retard) tried to unplug the IAC and pulled the wires out of the clip. We plugged them back in as best as we could and hooked up the IAC. We started the car and it instantly revved to 5 grand and just idled there. We shut the car off and figured the wires were expletiveed. We switched the wires around and the car started fine. There is only one issue....the idle sounds almost like the car is cammed out to all hell. It lopes really bad and gets annoying. It makes the car run like absolute ****. I put a brand new IAC on the car figuring that the IAC was shot and im still having the same problem? could the wires be crossed? could i have a vaccum leak somewhere? i figured i do, but any ideas would be very appreciated.

firing order seems ok. I got a full MSD ignition and it seems to be ok. The MSD wires will only go to one spot and they are numbered. A friend of mine said that the timing couldve jumped but i highly doubt that....other then idle the car runs perfect. No hiccups no spitting nothing at all. Just idle is all f'ed up.

if the msd is wired up correctly, then timing would be my next guess .

since you changed the i/m gasket, check that first. you might be getting a vacuum leak from the gasket not seated properly. get some carb cleaner and spray it around the gasket and listen for idle changes.

the car is running rich. i dunno if it would run rich enough to cause an idle problem. I have to get another underdash harness becuz of the previous owner hacking it all up. I dunno if my fuel problem would be from there. but the idle just happened after the intake manifold gasket replacment.

the dash harness has nothing to do with the fuel system, except for the fuel gauge, and would not cause the surging you are describing. did you check the intake manifold gasket like i suggested?

Sounds like a leak to me. Make sure the manifold is torqued down nice and tight.

ok checked the gasket and didnt get any difference in the idle. So what im going to do is get another gasket and put rtv on it as well to try and seal it up real good.
