Default Ignition timing problem. Help!!!

Hi!!

I was reading the Shop Manual for a B16A first Generation (Using PR3 ECU) and went over to the timing setting's pages. They said that you must connect two wires (GRN/WHT and BLU) from the ECU before the adjustment. I did that but here are my two questions/problem:

1. What exeactly the two cables together do to the timing system/ECU that you must connect them togeter?

2. Why my timing is really away to the actual red mark? It really do not matter how much I advance/retard the ignition, never get even close to the red mark, only the white mark is the one that I can see with the light.

Here is the actual reading:

- White mark
- Timing light on pointer

- Red mark

This is around 700RPM.

As you can see, the actual reading sees the white mark over the pointer, but no matter how I move (advance/retard) the distributor, never got the pointer near the red mark.

I will appreciate any help on this matter!!
