drag racing question?
i'm trying to improve my time that i did at the track. i did a 8.4 on the 1/8th at irwindale. do you think that putting on a pair of skinnies in the back and uncorking the muffler would improve my time? i'm already runnin slicks. thanks

dropping the muffler would help. but unfortunatly irwindale won't let you run uncorked.... depends on how heavy your rear wheels are that you are running now. it won't make a drastic difference but it might help. what kind of car? and what setup?

i got a 89 hatch with a ls vtec. you know what sucks? i've seen and heard some people run uncorked and it's so obvious. i guess it just depends if you're lucky that day or not

what they are running is a shortened exhaust. small resonator or similar "muffler" underneath the car. it ends about where the shift linkage is and usually turns down. they always check for mufflers there. at least when i take my car. you can try to run the shortened exhaust. it should help out. what are your 60 foot times?

my best so far was a 1.8 60ft, but that was only my second time out on slicks. i know i can do better with a higher rpm launch. rpms kind of dropped a little last time

yeah i have an h22. best time so far with problems is a 7.50.. lots more left in the car just ran into some problems. which Finally have been fixed! still running with problems it ran a 12.0 at fontana. wheel bearing was so bad the wheel was about to come off among other things wrong but they are all fixed now!!! so this season will be different. keep adjusting tire pressure when you are at the track. what size slicks are you running? what rpm are you launching at also?

my suspension isn't the greatest. i have h&r race spec springs and kyb agx's. i've also replaced all my suspension and chassis bushings with the energy suspension kit and replaced my trailing arm bushings with the prothane ones.

get a good burnout and check your tire pressure often. it can change from driving from the pits to the lanes! make sure you have a good reliable tire guage also. one that reads low pressures. Jegs sells a pretty affordable race guage. 0-15 psi. i think its only like 15 or 20 bucks. slicks are a good size for your setup. try launching higher rpm wise and check your 60' times. then adjust your launch rpm accordingly. the more you run it and practice the better your times will be. good luck!! see you at irwindale! i should be there in a few weeks testing.
